Update 16th January

1

PRESS RELEASE/16.01.2021
Today (16.01.2021) a convention by the political parties in Delhi was held at Constitution Club (Annexe) in support of the 52 day farmer’s struggle at various venues along the Delhi border. The convention was presided by KM Tiwari (CPI-M), Dinesh Varshney (CPI), Ravi Rai (CPI-ML), Santosh Kumar (CGPI), Shatrujeet (RSP) and Gaurav (AIFB). Comrades Sitaram Yechury, Brinda Karat (CPI-M), K Narayana (CPI), Kavita Krishnan (CPI-ML), RS Dagar (RSP), Anita Rai Pawar (AIFB), and Prakash Rao (CGPI) spoke at the occasion. The convention adopted a resolution in solidarity with the struggle (attached) outlining clearly the points in the three farm laws opposed by the farmers in the country. It demanded the repeal of the laws and wanted guaranteed MSP and opening of procurement centres as recommended by the Swaminathan Commission. The resolution appealed to the people of Delhi to rally in support of kisans in the coming days.
KM Tiwari, Secretary, Delhi State Committee

Draft Resolution in support of Farmers' movement

We, the Delhi State units of various political parties at this Solidarity Convention held in New Delhi on January 16, 2021, in support of the Kisan struggle for the repeal of the three farm laws have unanimously adopted this resolution to be sent to the Prime Minister:
We, representing our members, supporters and a wide range of public opinion,
Express our solidarity and support to the struggle of the kisans for the repeal of the three farm laws.
Consider the manner of the passage of the Bills into laws without any consultation with kisans and their organisations to be an attack on the democratic rights of farmers to be consulted before any law is passed in their name. This reflects the authoritarian nature of the Central Government.
Hold that the laws are an encroachment into the rights and jurisdiction of the States since agriculture and related issues are in the State list under the Seventh Schedule. This shows a most harmful push of centralization of power in the hands of the Central Government against constitutional provisions.
Hold that the three farm laws are not only against the interests of farmers but against the interests of every citizen of India.
  1. The AMPC related Act is to favour big agribusinesses to directly enter the agricultural market through several concessions granted to them which will lead to their domination and a consequent weakening of the regulated markets where grain is procured at least at the minimum support price. It will lead to a reduction in foodgrains procurement which will adversely affect the public distribution system. Not only will kisans suffer, but the mass of people dependent on the rationing system will also suffer. The aim of the Government to help corporates like Adani and Ambani and their global counterparts is clear by its refusal to have a law to guarantee MSP in private transaction.
  2. The law related to contract farming in which the farmer is left to the mercy of agri- corporates since the Government has refused to stand guarantor in the contract agreement. Shockingly the Kisan has no legal redress if the Contractor breaks or cheats on the agreement. This law without price guarantees will make the Kisan more vulnerable to the company. In both these laws, without a minimum price, the economic distress of farmers will intensify. It is this which forces farmers to sell their land which is their major asset.
  3. The third law which permits huge stocks of agricultural commodities to be stocked is nothing but a law to legalize hoarding. Big companies can hold the grain or other stocked agricultural commodities such as potato’s or onions, create artificial scarcities and then profiteer on the high prices which will badly affect consumers.
Strongly protest against the continuing repression on farmers and also the constant vilification of the Kisan protest by leaders of the BJP ruling party led by members of the Union Cabinet
Demand that the three laws be repealed and discussions started with farmers for a law to guarantee MSP and opening of procurement centres as recommended by the Swaminathan Commission
Pledge to support the appeal of kisans for the intensification of the struggle.

2

"Mumbai With Farmers", rally and public meeting organised at Azad Maidan.

3

AIKS Kerala state secretary comrade K.N Balagopal recited the Kisan Pledge to the farmers from Kerala who came to protest against BJP Govt's anti-farmer legislations, along with AIKS national vice president comrade Amraram, joint secretary KK Ragesh and others at the Shahjahanpur border.

Quotes:

Habas: “We try to advise the players in every situation. Now the situation is that we’ve won the first few games but we need to continue the next games as well,”

Habas: “There is no room for overconfidence in the team. The players are fantastic professionals and have the idea to win every day. They don’t think about the scores and are just focused on getting wins every game,” he added.

Habas: “Odisha have a very good coach. I know about Stuart Baxter from my time back managing in South Africa. He comes with experience and a fantastic CV. I respect him and I think he respects me as well. We knew about each other a long time ago and I’m sure he’s doing really good work with Odisha,”

Habas: “Edu Garcia has a small injury problem right now and he will probably recover in the next three-four days,”

Habas: “For me, Marcelinho is one of the best players in ISL. Maybe he wasn’t at his very best last season, but we have to take care of him because he is very good in set pieces and can cause a lot of problems as a playmaker. We are preparing to contain him as well,”

Habas: “It doesn’t really matter if he is fully fit or not fully fit. I don’t think a single player is 100% fit at the moment in the ISL because of the strange circumstances.”

Habas: “Now the players have to adapt to the competition in Goa, after not having played for a long time. Now we have to keep working with the players and ensure they can reach their optimum fitness levels soon,”

Habas: “It’s not that important to start the season by winning the first two or three game. The more important thing is to win the ISL final or win the last few games. Now it’s good for us that we’ve started the season in positive fashion, but we have to continue winning all the matches.”

Habas: “We are preparing for the month. Maybe the schedule isn’t the best fixtures in the world, but this what we have to adapt for the football season in the Covid era. We have no excuses. We have to play very well and we’re prepared for the challenge ahead.”

Habas: “In terms of circumstances, I think that the performance level of the team is same from last season,”

Habas: “Normally you get time to prepare for the season but now having not played for seven-eight months and being expected to be perfect is not good. I think that the team and players need time and maybe ATK Mohun Bagan can be at their 70-80% best in the first week of January,”

Baxter: “It will give us a little bit more belief but we are gonna keep our feet on the ground and make sure we keep on working.”

Baxter: “It’s difficult because yes they are balanced and yes they’ve been together for a while and their way of play is difficult to play against.”

Baxter: “They have good players who can hurt you if you push on and leave space behind and if you don’t do that, then they are very solid defensively. So that’s the conundrum you’re gonna face when you play against ATK MB,”

Baxter: “There was an injury with Arshdeep, and therefore Kamaljit stepped in. I think he did well and we are happy we can get that sort of a competition between our goalkeepers.”

Baxter: “You can’t expect young players to walk in an environment they are not used to with a new coach and immediately be a finished article. During the time they are gaining experience, they can learn and still give a performance which will strengthen their confidence and also help the team.”

Baxter: “In the first-half, even though we were 2-0 down, we were still playing a lot better than we did against Hyderabad. I was relatively pleased with the way we approached the game. We were more compact, we were breaking out and playing through the lines much better.”

Baxter: We gave away two sloppy goals which put us on the backfoot. Luckily in the second half, the players approached the game in the correct way and kept their confidence. To get to 2-1 with 15 minutes to play roughly, I think everyone was hunting for that second goal and if the game was five minutes longer, we would have got the third goal,”

Baxter: “They should be part of the squad, whether they can take part in the game we will take a decision. He (Vinit) has had an injury that he picked up against Mumbai in the friendly and it’s been a quite bad one for him. He is fit but is he match fit, that decision we have to make.”

Baxter: "This is all very new to him. George does have potential and he needs to add to his armoury a little bit more in terms of calmness and also in terms of positional play. I expect George to certainly take part in the games to come.”

Baxter: “Not really. I think you respect them because they are good players and they are experienced players.”

Baxter: “But we have to make sure that whilst we are throwing players forward, we are aware of the fact that on transition, if they can get into the game quickly when we are spread out then they can be effective. More than that, it’s gonna be up to the players on the day to make sure to take away the spaces they want and we defend well one vs one,”

Baxter: “All I’ll say is Diego did make a massive impact when he came on, I think Manu plays very well with the other players, so, in my mind I’ve gotta decide whether I start with Diego who makes an impact or Manu who plays well with other players. That’s the call I’ve gotta make.”

Baxter: “We had very little game time to put ideas into practice. So we are literally using the league games as a way of improving. That’s massively difficult. I think the Indian boys have approached that in a very very good way.”

Baxter: “We are a work in progress and I think they’re approaching in the best way possible. We have to get results at the same time because if you don’t, it steals belief, confidence and the process takes a lot longer. Hopefully we can pick up points along the way,”

Bollywood’s pampered and privileged generation
By Subhash K Jha
September 08, 2019 at 11:30 AM
Say ‘hi’ to the P&P (pampered and privileged) generation. The first time I met Anil Kapoor’s daughter Sonam on the sets of her soon-to-be-her-director Sanjay Bhansali’s Black, I saw this really tall, dusky, sweet and angelic girl eager to prove herself. Little did I now what was in store for her. Sonam was trying her best to make herself useful on the sets. She was eager to learn and was raring to go. The fact that she had just returned from abroad and had the best of education and opportunities only added to her anxiety to prove herself. Spoilt kid? No way! Ranbir Kapoor too is an exact antithesis of what you expect a star-kid to be. Polite, clued-in, alert and computer savvy, Ranbir cannot afford to be anything but the paragon of patience and discipline.
Sonam and Ranbir needed to prove themselves twice as hard as other newcomers. The fact that they belong to two of the most illustrious families of filmdom puts an extra burden on them. Today they’ve done it on their own. Family names apart. It doesn’t matter how talented or charming you are. Being privileged means being persecuted. And I don’t mean just being a star-kid. Be small, be humble and apologetic about your privileged background. It’s the only way you will get past the producer’s smirking disdain. I think Abhishek, Esha, Karisma, Kareena, Ranbir, Varun, Alia, Sara and Janhvi have had to struggle far harder than the average outsider (some of whom are truly average!). Time and again, they were pulled up for where they came from, so much so that soon they began to believe it was a crime to belong to a film family.
One of them once confessed, “Nothing I do is right. My face, my hair, my body language, facial expressions, they are all supposed to be terrible when compared to my mom’s. What do I do? Should I publicly disown my pedigree and pretend to be this poor jholacarrying struggler from Rohtak who has to sleep her way to the top?” Relax, my dear. That stereotype is way too passé to be even remotely parodic. Even Mallika Sherawat, who once confessed to me that she had to “claw” her way out of poverty and bigotry, turned out to be indulging in a whole lot selfdelusory romantic hokum.
My dear departed friend Rituparno Ghosh once said to me, “The class of archetypal strugglers who landed at Mumbai Central with dreams in their eyes and Rs 500 in their pocket, who slept on the pavements and danced for amused producers, hoping they’d get a role, died with Dharmendra and Mithun Chakraborty. There are no strugglers in the true sense. Many of these new wannabes drive sports cars and carry glossy portfolios of their pictures. We can’t hold their lack of ‘struggle’ against them.” Rituparno had more to say. “These young boys and girls are extremely focused because cinema isn’t a meal ticket for them. And by God, they’re so professional! One major upcoming ‘classic’ actress whose first film got her awards galore opted out of my big epic film due to date problems. She didn’t bother to even call me to opt out. She had her business manager send me an SMS, telling me she had quit and why. Now what do you say to that?” Yup, this is a new forceful and upbeat breed which doesn’t think much of the old role-model of how a star should behave. At the same time, the new P&P breed of wannabes are bigger stars in their heads than Rajesh Khanna ever was or Kumar Gaurav could have ever been.

Assam to Provide Aid For Hindu Assamese-Bengali Intermarriages.

"According to the ‘scheme’ will cover couples whose inter-community marriages (between Assamese and Bengali Hindus) face stiff resistance from their families. The state will offer between Rs 30,000-40,000 to such couples ‘so that they can at least start a shop’. "
Alok Kumar Ghose, who is the chairman of the board and a former MLA from the upper Assam constituency of Mariani, stated that the proposed move was welcomed by chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal, minority welfare minister Ranjit Kumar Dutta and state finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a recent discussion. He said it had nothing to do with the agitation against the CAA. Ghosh also added that the board is hoping to implement the scheme within two months, claiming that it would “set an example in the country for promoting inter-community harmony”.

India's World Cup Squad Megathread

🇮🇳INDIA WORLD CUP SQUAD🇮🇳
✅ Rahul, DK & Vijay Shankar in ❌ No Pant 😱 or Rayudu
SQUAD: V Kohli (c), R Sharma, S Dhawan, KL Rahul, K Jadhav, H Pandya, V Shankar, MS Dhoni (wk), D Karthik, K Yadav, Y Chahal, R Jadeja, B Kumar, M Shami, J Bumrah
@CricketopiaCom: Team India for World Cup 2019 (Runs/Wickets)
Kohli: 10843/4 Rohit: 8010/8 Dhawan: 5355/0 KLRahul: 343/0 Shankar: 188/2 Dhoni: 10500/1 Jadhav: 1174/27 Karthik: 1738/0 Pandya: 731/44 Jadeja: 2035/174 Chahal: 34/72 Kuldeep: 100/87 Bhuvi: 523/118 Shami: 131/113 Bumrah: 18/85
@RayuduAmbati: Just Ordered a new set of 3d glasses to watch the world cup 😉😋..
Bhogle's Kowalski analysis:
While Pant will be a bit confused given that he is the test keeper but has been left out on wicketkeeping skills, this caps an astonishing sequence of events for Dinesh Karthik. From being down and out in life to being at the World Cup. It is a story of hope.
This means the #No4 debate is still open. Options now are Vijay Shankar or Virat Kohli with Rahul at no. 3. People who watch a lot of domestic cricket really rate Vijay Shankar. Happy for him but his temperament will be tested.
The chatter around the World Cup for a while was that Dinesh Karthik's place was safe but you never know till the team is announced. Either way, it was going to be hard on one keeper. The rest of the team is predictable.
The bowling picked itself. There will be days when India will consider playing all 3 seamers but I suspect that most days it will be 2 pacers and 2 wrist spinners so 3 + Pandya seems right. Both Vijay Shankar and Jadhav have to make the side as batsmen with bowling just a bonus
Ambati Rayudu must be shattered though. His place was deemed certain and he had even quit 4 day cricket to focus on this. But form is such a cruel mistress. The harder he tried the more he seemed to struggle. My heart goes out to him.
Experts:
@captainshanky: Not much has been spoken of Mohammad Shami's comeback. Was nowhere in the picture until even six-seven months ago. Well deserved too.
@cricvizanalyst: This season in IPL, Rishabh Pant scores at 11.36rpo after facing 10 balls; only De Villiers, Russell and Pollard can better that. India have a squad full of stars and match-winners, but Pant's power-hitting is unmatched by many around the world, let alone just in India.
@cricketaakash: So, India has picked Shankar as no.4 option. Without really knowing if it’ll work. DK will play only when Dhoni isn’t available. And no fourth seamer. Interesting choices. Hope it works. ☺️🤗Good luck 👍🙌
@benjonescricket: Picking Pant is preparing for the best. Imagine - it's 230-2 after 35 overs, Pant walks in at No.4 with a well-set Rohit Sharma at the other end. With Hardik and Dhoni still behind him, Pant could run riot.
NOT picking Pant is preparing for the worst. You're building a side around the idea that a top three containing arguably the two best ODI players of their generation (and arguably the GOAT) is going to fail. It suggests, implicitly, that India are scarred by the 2017 CT final.
@BoriaMajumdar: Kartik for Pant is the only debating point. Rest all on expected lines. If Pant keeps in test cricket can keeping be the issue? Or is it bec he is throwing his wicket away too many times?
@gaurav_sundar: Kudos to MSK prasad!! Outstanding presser with such clear answers. No diplomatic answers and very clear and transparent. Why DK over Pant , why Shankar over Rayudu and Rahul as back up opener !!
@cricketwallah: Karthik over Pant is defensive thinking IMO. If Pant is first choice wk for Tests, what reduces his ability for ODIs?
@SnehalPradhan: I know Prasad said wicketkeeping, but I get the feeling that DK got the nod over Pant to hedge against the risk that India are taking by using Vijay Shankar at 4. Shankar's looked good and I'd pick him, but suppose he fails, DK coming in inspires more confidence than Pant.
@KrisSrikkanth: Very surprised to see that @RishabPant777 not included in the world cup squad! He can change a game within a matter of few overs, would have also liked to see the likes of either Gill or Iyer included in the squad just to add more depth to the Middle order
Twitter Reaction :
@CricketopiaCom: "To begin with, he will only be a reserve opener, but if the team management needs, he can bat in the middle order too." - MSK Prasad on KL Rahul
"Wicketkeeping also matters. That is the reason why we went with Dinesh Karthik otherwise Rishabh Pant was also there."
MSK Prasad on Pant and Karthik
@cricBC: Sensible to pick DK over Pant. DK offers something as a brilliant outfielder as well. Your backup needs to be more versatile, DK can bat at any number from 4 to 7 based on team needs.
I hope the selectors make some changes before the actual deadline. Is squad mein outrage karne ko kuch nahi mil raha.
@kbalakumar: The last time India went to a World Cup with Dhoni as main WK and Karthik as back-up was in 2007. #PerishTheThought
Vijay Shankar owes a bit to Shreyas Iyer, his buddy, for his resurgence after his wilderness last yr under Gambhir's captaincy. Shreyas' elevation to captaincy got him going, a couple of decent outings, and Shankar got his confidence back.

Ranji Trophy Round 7 Recap and Post Match Thread

Elite Group A

Andhra vs Kerala in Ongole
Andhra (255 and 3/43) beat Kerala (162 and 135) by seven wickets
Points: Andhra 6, Kerala 0
Player of the Match: Mohammad Rafi
Day 1: Kerala’s season goes from bad to worse. If losing four out of six wasn’t enough, they were put in to bat and were bowled out for 162 in Ongole. Andhra’s Shoaib Mohammad Khan, the fast bowler, picked up his maiden first-class five-for. Andhra ended on 52 for 1, trailing by just 105. Currently, Andhra top Groups A&B combined.
Day 2: DB Prasanth Kumar's 79 has helped Andhra pocket a 93-run lead against Kerala in Ongole. Andhra were cruising, but lost 5 for 75 to be bowled out for 255.
Day 3/Result: They don't get the due credit they often deserve, but Andhra have quietly been punching above their weight. Their most-recognised batsman Hanuma Vihari is away in New Zealand but the others have shown quietly that they can't be taken lightly. Ask Kerala, who bore the brunt of their fury in Ongole. Andhra took a 93-run lead, bowled Kerala out for 135 runs and then knocked off the runs for the loss of three wickets. The pace duo of Prithvi Raj and KV Sasikanth picked up five wickets between them, while Rafi picked up three. Barring Robin Uthappa and Rohan Prem, none of the other Kerala batsmen looked set. They've now lost five out of their seven matches and are in line for relegation along with MP and Hyderabad.
50+ Scores: Prasanth Kumar (79)
3-wicket hauls: Shoaib Mohammad Khan (5/62), Yarra Prithviraj (3/37 & 3/26), Basil Thampi (3/43), Jalaj Saxena (3/56) and Mohammad Rafi (3/29)
Bengal vs Delhi in Kolkata
Delhi (7/242) drew with Bengal (318). (First innings incomplete).
Point: Delhi 1, Bengal 1
Player of the Match: Anustup Majumdar
Day 1: Half-centuries from Anustup Majumdar and Shreevats Goswami have helped Bengal power ahead to 286 for 5 against Delhi at Eden Gardens.
Day 2: Bengal are in sight of a first-innings lead after they reduced Delhi to 192 for 6 at stumps. They still have 126 runs to play with at Eden Gardens. Dhruv Shorey was Delhi's only half-centurion.
Day 3: Delhi 217 for 7 in response to Bengal's 318. Only 9.3 overs were possible at Eden Gardens because of rain and wet outfield.
Day 4/Result: Only 180.4 overs were possible in the match, which is essentially two day's play only. Both teams will share a point with Delhi 242 for 7 in reply to Bengal's 318. Disappointing for both teams, who would have been looking forward to making some upward movement in the points table, but have to be satisfied with just 1 point each.
50+ Scores: Anustup Majumdar (99), Shreevats Goswami (59), Dhruv Shorey (65) and Jonty Sidhu (53*)
3-wicket hauls: Simarjeet Singh (4/77), Vikas Mishra (3/78) and Mukesh Kumar (3/75)
Gujarat vs Vidharbha in Surat
Gujarat (211 and 6/181) beat Vidarbha (142 and 247) by 4 wickets
Points: Gujarat 6, Vidarbha 0
Player of the Match: Parthiv Patel
Day 1: Gujarat have the upper hand against defending chamopions Vidarbha after skittling them for 142 in Surat, with left-arm spinner Siddharth Desai picking up four wickets. They've responded solidly, on 88 for 1.
Day 2: Vidarbha have wiped out the deficit but have lost four wickets in the process. Gujarat hold the aces.
Day 3: Gujarat v Vidarbha could be a thriller tomorrow. Gujarat are 74 for 4, needing another 105 for victory. That the defending champions were able to extend their lead was courtesy a fine 87 by crisis man Akshay Wadkar.
Day 4/Result: Second straight defeat for the double defending champions, who had gone two full seasons without tasting a loss. Gujarat were excellently served by having the calm, experienced head of Parthiv Patel batting at No.7. Parthiv struck 5 fours and 1 six in breezing to 41* off 51 balls, shrugging off the loss of both overnight batsmen - Manprit Juneja and Roosh Kalaria - to Umesh Yadav in successive overs. At 118 for 6, the target of 179 looked tricky for Gujarat, but Parthiv ensured no more wickets would fall, taking his team to a four-wicket win. And it's come in his 100th Ranji Trophy game too! The 2016-17 champions have beaten the 2017-18 and 2018-19 champions.
50+ Scores: Parthiv Patel (58), Akshay Wadkar (87) and Aditya Sarwate (53)
3-wicket hauls: Siddharth Desai (4/40), Roosh Kalaria (3/31 & 4/62), Aditya Thakare (5/43 & 4/44), Umesh Yadav (3/82) and Chintan Gaja (3/68)
Hyderabad vs Rajasthan in Hyderabad
Rajasthan (135 and 1/195) beat Hyderabad (171 and 156) by nine wickets
Points: Rajasthan 6, Hyderabad 0
Player of the Match: Manender Singh
Day 1: K Sumanth's 51 was the lone bright spark for Hyderabad as they were shot out for 171. The left-arm seam bowling pair of Rituraj Singh and Aniket Choudhary picked up three wickets apiece. Rajasthan ended on 2 without loss at Uppal.
Day 2: Hyderabad have been pegged back after they picked up a 36-run lead. They're 65 for 4 in the second innings, leading by 101. Their hopes rest on Akshath Reddy, the opener, to help build a sizable lead that they will try and defend. Hyderabad are winless in the competition so far.
Day 3/Result: Their season is just about alive as Rajasthan win by nine wickets, making a chase of 195 look ridiculously easy in the end. This was made possible thanks to a superb unbeaten 105 from Manendra Singh. This is Rajasthan's second win that takes them to 16 points; they're in the mid-table of the combined points table. Hyderabad, meanwhile, have lost five out of six and are staring at relegation.
50+ Scores: Kolla Sumanth (51), Akshath Reddy (71), Manender Singh (107) and Mahipal Lomror (71)
3-wicket hauls: Aniket Choudhary (3/41 & 4/48), Rituraj Singh (3/34), M Ravi Kiran (4/46) and Tanveer Ul Haq (3/44)

Elite Group B

Baroda vs Saurashtra in Vadodara
Saurashtra (142 and 6/200) beat Baroda (154 and 187) by four wickets
Points: Saurashtra 6, Baroda 0
Player of the Match: Jaydev Unadkat
Day 1: As many as 16 wickets fell in Vadodara on a day no side can claim as their own. Baroda were put in to bat and were shot out for 154 with Jaydev Unadkat picking 6 for 34. Saurashtra, without Cheteshwar Pujara who is gearing up for the New Zealand tour, 114 for 6 with Lukman Meriwala picking four wickets.
Day 2: Jaydev Unadkat's six-for in each innings has put Saurashtra in a position from where they can look to win outright. However, that is easier said than done. Saurashtra conceded a 12-run lead, but struck back to dismiss Baroda for 187 in the second innings. Set 200 to win, they're currently 15 for 1.
Day 3/Result: Jaydev Unadkat may have taken six wickets apiece to help set up the game, but Saurashtra still had 200 to chase down. Baroda had Saurashtra on the mat at 113 for 6. With the game fast slipping away, Aarpit Vasavada and Prerak Mankad got together and they took the bull by the horns, adding 87 to take Saurashtra over the line by four wickets. Vasavada made 48, Mankad finished 36. Saurashtra temporarily take the top spot at the moment, and will need to wait on a few other results to see if they remain there. Irrespective, this strengthens this position as far as quarter-finals qualification goes. In six games, they have 25 points with three wins. Impressive result, they continue to move upwards towards being a domestic powerhouse.
50+ Scores: Krunal Devdhar (52) and Deepak Hooda (52)
3-wicket hauls: Jaydev Unadkat (6/34 & 6/72), Prerak Mankad (3/17), Lukman Meriwala (5/64) and Atit Sheth (3/25)
Himachal Pradesh vs Mumbai in Dharamsala
Mumbai (5/372) drew with Himachal Pradesh. (First innings incomplete).
Points: Mumbai 1, Himachal Pradesh 1
Player of the Match: Sarfaraz Khan
Day 1: It was Sarfaraz's day in Dharamsala, but Mumbai also had fine contributions from skipper Aditya Tare (62) and Shubham Ranjane (44*). Sarfaraz put on 143 before Tare was out nicking to the slips. The unbeaten sixth-wicket stand between Sarfaraz and Ranjane is worth 158. Mumbai 372 for 5.
Day 2: No play possible.
Day 3: No play possible.
Day 4/Result: There has been no play in the Mumbai v Himachal Pradesh match for three consecutive days. A complete and utter travesty. Sarfaraz Khan had bludgeoned his way to 226 off just 213 balls. Could have become the first person to score back to back triple hundreds.

Madhya Pradesh vs Uttar Pradesh in Indore
Uttar Pradesh (216 and 3/178) beat Madhya Pradesh (230 and 160) by seven wickets
Points: UP 6, MP 0
Player of the Match: Saurabh Kumar
Day 1: Yash Dubey's 70 pushed Madhya Pradesh to 230 from 120 for 6. Uttar Pradesh would've pleased with their bowling effort considering they conceded a lead against Mumbai after posting 653 in Mumbai last week. But the batsmen have left them tottering on 22 for 3 in Indore after debutant Ravi Yadav picked a hat-trick in his very first over on first-class debut.
Day 2: After pocketing a 14-run lead, MP made serene progress in the second innings to set them up for a solid target. UP will need to strike early if they're to be in with a shout in the match. Ravi Yadav, the debutant who took a hat-trick in his first over, finished with a five-for.
Day 3/Result: UP conceded a hat-trick to debutant Ravi Yadav, were bowled out cheaply in the first innings to concede a lead. But everything after that has been magical. In reply to MP's 230, UP were tottering at 46 for 7. From there, UP had no business of winning, right? Saurabh Kumar came up wit an improbable 98 but couldn't quite get them to a lead as UP fell 14 short, but they fought back with the ball. MP were bundled out for 160 with their fast bowlers Yash Dayal and Ankit Rajpoot doing bulk of the damage. Aryan Juyal made 72* to help chase down 178 with seven wickets in hand.
50+ Scores: Yash Dubey (70), Rinku Singh (53), Saurabh Kumar (98), Almas Shaukat (54) and Aryan Juyal (74)
3-wicket hauls: Ankit Rajpoot (3/74 & 3/48), Saurabh Kumar (3/59), Gaurav Yadav (3/73), Ravi Yadav (5/61) and Yash Dayal (4/52)
Railways vs Karnataka in Delhi
Karnataka (211 and 0/51) beat Railways (182 and 79) by 10 wickets
Points: Karnataka 7, Railways 0
Player of the Match: Ronit More
Day 1: Prateek Jain's four-for reduced Railways to 98 for 6 in New Delhi after Karnataka put them into bat. Only 49 overs of play was possible and similar weather - fog and bad light - is expected over the next three days.
Day 2: Rain and bad light has frustrated Karnataka on a day where little cricket was possible against Railways. More than a day has now been lost to the weather.
Day 3: A blazing 41 from K Gowtham helped a misfiring Karnataka snatch the first innings points from Railways at the Karnail Singh Stadium.
Day 4/Result: A dominant display by a champion team. When Karnataka were 177 for 9 with Railways having made 182, anything was possible. S Sharath (62) dragged Karnataka to 211 all out. It looked like this match would peter out into a draw with rain having eaten up considerable time. But Karnataka's pacers came out charged up, and Railways were blindsided, tumbling to 79 all out in 30 overs. Ronit More took 6 for 32 - including an over in which he had three wickets - and gave Karnataka a target of just 51 for victory. The pitch likely influenced Karnataka's decision to send Rohan Kadam alongside Devdutt Padikkal to open the innings, and the decision paid off. The openers rattled to 51 without loss in just 8.2 overs, both men scoring at a fast clip. Not just victory, Karnataka are walking away with a bonus point too.
50+ Scores: Arindam Ghosh (59), Avinash Yadav (62), Devdutt Paddikal (55) and Srinivas Sharath (62)
3-wicket hauls: Abhimanyu Mithun (4/51 & 3/17), Prateek Jain (5/38), Amit Mishra (5/70), Himanshu Sangwan (3/57) and Ronit More (6/32)

Day 3: Assam were reeling at 147 for 7 when Pacer Ranjit Mali and Wicketkeeper Kunal Saikia took them to 238 which was not enough to avoid follow on. After coming in to bat again, Assam were comfortably sitting at 102 without loss.
Day 4/Result: Assam have collapsed spectacularly from 124 for no loss to 195 all out, losing by an innings and three runs. Odisha back on the winning track after losing to Jammu & Kashmir last round, Those two teams have pulled away significantly from the rest in Group C, and are the favourites to qualify. Odisha's hero was Debabrata Pradhan. He made 79 from No.8, top-scoring in Odisha's innings of 436. Day 3: After gaining crucial 126 run lead early in the morning, Services declared at 259 for 8. G Rahul Singh scored 82 for Services to give Jharkhand a target of 387. Jharkhand lost a wicket in first over but looked to consolidate afterwards and are 337 runs away for an unlikely win.
Day 4/Result: Offspinner Pulkit Narang had the best bowling day of his life, claiming 6 for 58 to precipitate a Jharkhand collapse and hand Services victory by 118 runs. Jharkhand were 158 for 1, and then 190 for 2 - but they're all out for 267. Narang had never taken more than three wickets in a match earlier, and he now has six in an innings. Adding to the 2-0-7-1 he had in the first innings, it's given him match figures of 7 for 65 and the Man of the Match award. This has dealt a serious blow to Jharkhand's hopes of challenging for a spot in the top two and thus qualifying for the quarter-finals.
50+ Scores: Mohit Ahlawat (69), Raushan Raj (75), G Rahul Singh (82) and Kumar Suraj (103)

Points: Maharashtra 6, Tripura 0

Day 2: Tripura have wiped out the 87-run deficit but have lost three wickets in the process against Maharashtra. Tottering on 53 for 5 in response to Tripura’s 121, Vishant More and Ankeet Bawne hit half-centuries to lead their revival.
Day 3: Fifties from Pallab Das and Captain Milind Kumar alongside some useful contributions from Harmeet Singh and Manisankar Murasingh took Tripura to highest total (290) of the match. Ashay Palkar took 5-fer for Maharashtra. Maharashtra are just 101 runs away from victory with 8 wickets in hand.
Day 4/Result: They were set a challenging 200-plus fourth innings chase, but Maharashtra have come through splendidly, to raise a five-wicket win against Tripura. Captain Ankit Bawne led the way with 61*, to steer the chase. This is in addition to the 62 he had made in the first innings - invaluable contributions in a low-scoring match, and he's the Man of the Match too. Maharashtra have now won three matches in a row after a nightmarish start to the season. They had lost by an innings against Haryana, lost to Jammu & Kashmir, squeezed out a three-run first-innings lead against Chhattisgarh, then lost by an innings against Services including being bowled out for 44.
50+ Scores: Ankit Bawne (62 & 57), Vishant More (78*), Pallab Das (77), Milind Kumar (67) and Swapnil Gugale (57)

Haryana (142) drew with Uttarakhand (109 and 3/109). (Haryana got first innings lead)
Points: Haryana 3, Uttarakhand 1
Player of the Match: Agrim Tiwari

Day 2: No play possible.
Day 3: No play possible.
Day 4/Result: When all else fails, depend on Harshal Patel. That could be the slogan of this year's domestic season. Harshal hit 50 from No.8 to drag Haryana past Uttarakhand's first-innings total of 109 all out. Haryana end on 142 all out. Agrim Tiwari took 6 for 47. Hands have been shaken in the Uttarakhand v Haryana match. Uttarakhand were 109 for 3 in their second innings, and it was clear that the match was heading nowhere. Haryana pocket 3 points for the first-innings lead. They've come to this match after back to back one-wicket defeats, so this will be a minor balm.
50+ Scores: Harshal Patel (50)
3-wicket hauls: Tinu Kundu (3/49) and Agrim Tiwari (6/47)

Plate Group

Chandigarh (134 and 3/102) drew with Pondicherry (113). (Chandigarh got first innings lead)
Points: Chandigarh 3, Pondicherry 1
Player of the Match: Shresth Nirmohi
Day 1: The old warhorse and veteran R Vinay Kumar continues to shine. His 6 for 32 kittled Chandigarh for 134 in little over a session at the Sector-16 Stadium, but it could be an engaging battle for a first-innings lead with Puducherry reeling at 37 for 4. This is a vital clash to determine who opens up a lead at the top of the group.
Day 2: Rain and fog combine to ensure no play possible.
Day 3: No play possible.
Day 4/Result: The teams shook hands with Chandigarh 102 for 3 in their second innings, shortly after Manan Vohra was out for 52. Day 2: After openers Sumiran Amonkar and Vaibhav Govekar smashed 160 apiece on Monday, their professionals Smit Patel and Amit Verma scored tons of their own as Goa declared on an imposing 589 for 2. Arunachal were in early strife and are under the pump.

Points: Mizoram 3, Nagaland 1
Player of the Match: G Lalbiakvela
Day 1: Experienced batters Shrikant Mundhe, Stuart Binny, Rongsen Jonathan and Yogesh Takawale have all failed to make an impact. Nagaland ended on 243 all out against Mizoram in Kolkata after opener Sedezhaile Rupero brought up his maiden first-class century.
Day 2: Taruwar Kohli and KB Pawan, their professionals, helped Mizoram take the first-innings lead against Nagaland in Kolkata. With two full days still remaining, they Mizoram are in a position from where they can dictate terms if they open a big-enough lead. With just one win in six games, qualification to the knockouts is out of the picture, but a win will give them oodles of confidence.
Day 3: No play possible.
Day 4/Result: The rain-affected Nagaland v Mizoram game has ended in a draw, but it still had enough time for Taruwar Kohli to amass yet another century. He's been burning the run charts this season, alongside Rahul Dalal in the Plate Group.

Post Match Thread: Vijay Hazare trophy group stage

So the group stages of the premier List A tournament in India is done and the quarter finalists are decided. Rain wrecked havoc on the playing schedules and led to many games being rescheduled. A brief explainer of the format first - There are a total of 38 teams divided into 4 groups (and 3 classes). Groups A and B are the Elite division. Group C is also an Elite group, but not quite as Elite as A and B. Then there is the Plate group. Groups A and B have 9 teams each. Group C has 10 teams and Plate group the bottom 10. After the round robin stages, the top 5 from the combined Groups A and B, 2 from Group C and 1 from Plate make it to the QFs. The respective teams are Karnataka, Delhi, Punjab, Chattisgarh and Mumbai (defending champs). From Group C TN and Gujurat make the cut. Vinay Kumar's Pondi is the final team from Plate.
Tamil Nadu are the team in form having won all 9 games in their group led by their top order batsmen Mukund and Baba Aprajit who made 450+ runs each. Big things were expected from Aprajith and maybe this is his season finally. Karnataka, having won the T20 tournament without losing a game, also had a near perfect group stage winning 8 out of 9 games. Captain Manish Pandey top scored with over 500 runs and 6 50+ scores (one 100, five 50s) at an average of 101. While the spotlight was on Karnataka opener KL having lost his test opening slot, it was the other opener, youngster Devdutt Padiakkal, who impressed with 456 runs including two centuries. This is only his second season and after a very impressive first season Karnataka might have unearthed another top order talent. KL didn't do too badly himself making 361 runs. Gujurat in Group C also won 8 out of their 9 games losing only to TN. The other spots however were decided only on the last day. All of Punjab, UP, Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad and Chattisgarh were in the reckoning for four spots and positions on the table. Delhi, Punjab and Chattisgarh ended up on 22 points. Delhi finished above Punjab in lieu of their head to head result and CG ended up fourth with the lowest NRR (CG were in Group A, Punjab and Delhi in Group B so head to head did not apply to them, weird I know). Mumbai pipped UP for the last spot with a better NRR(once again Mum were in group A and UP in B, so no head to head result).
Other highlights in group stage include double centuries by Mumbai talent Yashasvi Jaiswal who ended up as the fourth highest run scorer with 504 runs in only 5 matches and just one run behind Pandey who played 8 games. Sanju Samson also made a double century and in typical Sanju Samson fashion, he made only one other fifty in the group stage. Just about half his runs came in one innings. Dhawan had a very quiet tournament making only 130 runs.
There was hardly any breakthrough performances by the bowlers. Among the Elite groups, MP's Gaurav Yadav topped the wicket-takers list with 23 and was followed by Gujurat's RB Kalaria with 20. Punjab and India bowlers Sandeep Sharma and Sid Kaul picket 16 wickets each and were joined by Karnataka's Prasidh Krishna on 16. Our favourite millionaire Unadkat got 15 wickets from 8 games for Saurashtra.
The QFs are between
Karnataka vs Pondicherry,
Delhi vs Gujurat,
Punjab vs TN,
Mumbai vs Chattisgarh.
Karnataka start favourites in their QF but the others are a lot more closer to call. Delhi and Mumbai have both been patchy while Chattisgarh and Gujurat have been playing efficiently. CG have already beaten Mumbai once in the group stages and might fancy their chances again. TN have been on an absolute roll and you would back them to win over Punjab. Punjab don't really have a solid batting line up and the less said about TN's bowling, the better. This QF too looks interesting.

Awareness: Please be careful .

Qnet is where people are fooled & once they have paid huge money, they are taught how to fool others to enter the business. they never tell their potential prey its an MLM. they hide the business model until the potential victims have arranged funds to pay to qnet. most victims are close relatives or close friends of qnet direct sellers.
Being in the org i have seen that most of them are in huge debt as the credit is available very easily. & all that for what? to fake a lavish lifestyle. We are trained to show off, to fake huge sales & business model that is "GLOBAL" the truth is most developed countries like USA have banned QNET. these people are not even business persons. but they like to call themselves that. they are in reality sales executives who work on commission.
The products that they offer for 4-5 lacs have been proven in several courts to be too overvalued. the cost of which would not be more than 15000. on the top of that they wont tell you the period within which you are allowed to ask for refund. so you lose all the money.its a money circulation scheme dressed in MLM to give it a legal standing. This company is already banned in many states and liquidation order has been passes in late 2019. so please if you are getting into it beware. you could end up losing all your money.
These people first trap a victim and then through him, trap the victims family members too, thus a family ends up losing 4 times the money initially quoted for one victim. A tech in Bangalore and many others have committed suicide because he did not want to trap his friends in this scheme to be profitable in this business.
Legality of a business may change from time to time. its getting banned now but may be someday they could come back with a different structure. BUT ETHICALITY THIS BUSINESS DOES NOT STAND ANY GROUNDS. its a ponzi scheme. If you dont want to get in the business of trapping people who are mostly your family , close friends or colleagues please stay away from this..
This business is only for those who can put a price tag on their friendships, on their relations and on trust. if you are not one of them stay away from qnet
listed below are direct sellers of qnet . if you happen to deal with them please be careful. study qnet and its scams before taking any decicion (they usually dont reveal the name of the company, the business model and that it is MLM or direct selling. they only tell it is a digital marketing or business development)

Match of the week:
1) Punjab vs Kerala - This was a match between a team sitting at the top of the table and a team at nearly the bottom of the table (Combined A & B Group - No. 1 vs No. 17). A reasonable man would expect table toppers to win when opponent is also weakened in the absence of their strike bowler (Sandeep Warrier is selected for India A) but Punjab showed us why they should be added as a synonym of mediocre in dictionary. Punjab started the match well when they had Kerala 6 down at 89 even after Robin Uthappa's 48 but Salman Nizar (91*) had some other ideas and took his team to 227. In reply, Punjab was also struggling at 6 down for 99 when skipper Mandeep Singh's 71 took them close (218) to Kerala's total. Mohammed Nideesh, a guy who was playing just because Warrier is unavailable, took 7 wickets. Gurkeerat Singh Mann and Siddarth Kaul brought their team back in the game by bundling out Kerala for 136. Needing just 146 to win, Punjab had no answers for Jalaj Saxena's off spin as he took 7 wickets and Kerala won by 21 runs. Teams like Karnataka, Hyderabad and Delhi will be thanking Kerala for toppling strong Punjab team.
2) Haryana vs Odisha - Unlike the other match of the week, this match was expected to be a cracker. Top 2 teams of Group C were facing each other in bowling friendly pitch of Lahli, Rohtak. After electing to bat first, Haryana was skittled out for a low score of 90. Medium pacer Suryakant Pradhan was chief destroyer for Odisha. In reply, Odisha took all important lead of 70 runs with the help of Biplab Samantray's fifty (52) as Haryana spinner Tinu Kundu took his 2nd FC 5-fer. Haryana fared well in 2nd innings and scored 248 with the help of 40s by Shubham Rohilla, Ankit Kumar and Himanshu Rana. Suryakant Pradhan completed his 10-fer in the match with another 5-fer. Chasing the target of just 179, Odisha was in trouble at 79 for 5 but useful contribution from Rajesh Dhuper and Govind Poddar took them to 165 for 7. When Dhuper fell, Mohanty took them to 176 for 9 and No.11 Pappu Roy won the match for Odisha with a boundary. Ajit Chahal took 7 wickets in second innings but it was not enough to prevent a defeat for Haryana.
Top Players of the week:
1) R Sanjay Yadav (Meghalaya - 254*, 2/20 and 4/27)
2) Riyan Parag (Assam - 3/60, 3/82 and 60)
3) Suryakant Pradhan (Odisha - 6/36 and 5/86)
4) Paras Dogra (Puducherry - 194 out of 260 in first innings)
5) Cheteshwar Pujara (Saurashtra - 248)
6) Rahul Dalal (Arunachal Pradesh - 267 & 33*)
Potential Quartefinals (as per current table):
Andhra Pradesh vs Goa
Punjab vs Jammu & Kashmir
Vidharbha vs Odisha
Karnataka vs Saurashtra
