Here's a list of fun games that reward you for time and cost less than a Jumbo Rare Players pack in the PS Store right now.

this list is being updated as I find good deals for both Xbox and PS4. this list is accurate as of 6PM US Central time on June 10, 2020.
PS NOW Game List - $20 for three months of access to hundreds of games, many of them fantastic.
GTA V Premium Edition (Numerous people telling me the online game isn't worth the amount of time you have to put into it, but I can vouch for the offline story being one of the best gameplay experiences I've ever had)
Resident Evil 2 Remaster
God of War
Horizon: Zero Dawn Ultimate Edition
Bioshock: The Collection (Bioshock 1, 2, and Infinite)
Dark Souls Remastered
Assassins Creed Odyssey: Ultimate Edition (whoops this is $30, but still insanely worth it)

Cuphead
Witcher 3 GOTY Edition

Top Searched FAQ Items:
1. “ACCOUNT HAS NOT BEEN VERIFIED” - DOOM ETERNAL
If you receive an error stating “This account has not been verified” when creating or attempting to link your Bethesda.net account in DOOM Eternal, this indicates that your Bethesda.net account has not yet been verified. You can check what account you have linked to your Betheda.net account here: https://bethesda.net/en/accoun...

The Empowered Demons feature will be enabled in a future update. We’ll let you know once this new feature is enabled!
What do I do if I haven’t received my preordedeluxe edition items in DOOM Eternal?
First, ensure that you have redeemed all applicable codes. You may have received a code from your retailer (sometimes printed on the receipt itself). If you still have not received your items, you can enter the Bethesda.net settings menu in-game and claim items by selecting Reconcile Entitlements.
What do I do if I see a black screen on PC?
A black screen on launch typically is a result of your graphics card drivers not being up to date, your machine not meeting the minimum system requirements, or an Anti-Virus program blocking or quarantining DOOM Eternal. What do I do if I can't progress in an objective in DOOM Eternal?
Sometimes you may be near an objective marker, but it could be on a higher or lower platform. Check your Map to make sure you are at the correct location.
If you are currently blocked by a Demon Gate, a demon may have escaped the area. In most cases they will return to the main arena shortly. If they do not return, restart from an earlier saved checkpoint by selecting Load Checkpoint from the Pause Menu.
If you are unable to load your previous checkpoint, you will have to select Reset Mission or Exit to Main Menu.
How do I use Photo Mode in DOOM Eternal?
Photo Mode is currently in Beta and only available in Mission Select after you have completed a mission in the Campaign mode. You must first enable Photo Mode from the settings menu. Once Photo Mode has been enabled you may press Right-Alt on a keyboard or Down on the D-Pad of a controller to access Photo Mode during gameplay. You can move the camera’s position and view the Slayer in third-person mode. You can also view the Slayer wearing skins that you’ve unlocked.
Known Issues for DOOM Eternal (all platforms):
Gameplay:
Issue: I noticed that my XP was negative after completing a campaign level or a BATTLEMODE match at one point, probably on a Thursday. Does this mean that I lost progress?
Resolution: You didn't lose any progress. This is a cosmetic issue that occurs if you complete a campaign level or a BATTLEMODE match while we are deploying a new Series. We will be correcting this issue in a future patch.
Issue: I've noticed that some of my customized DOOM Slayer skins aren't showing up correctly in BATTLEMODE lobbies and podium screens. Is there anything I can do about this?
Resolution: Resetting all weapon skins to default and reselecting your Slayer and weapon skins from the BATTLEMODE Customization menu will resolve this issue. This issue can also be avoided this if you select your DOOM Slayer character and weapon skins from the main menu's Customization sub-menu before entering BATTLEMODE.
Issue*: I just finished playing a Ripatorium session from the Fortress of DOOM. Can I play another one right away?*
Resolution: You can only play one Ripatorium session per visit to the Fortress of DOOM.
Issue: I'm on my first play-through of the campaign and the Slayer Gate Keys aren't appearing. Is there anything I can do about this?
Resolution: Deactivating Cheat Codes in the Mission Select menu will resolve this.
Issue: I am getting the following message: "No username specified. Please complete account verification." What does it mean and what can I do?
Resolution: There are two possible causes for this message. The good news is that you can continue into the game unimpeded for both cases. 1) Users who have created Bethesda.net accounts without specifying a username in another Bethesda title will see this message. For these users, you will need to complete the steps outlined in the Account Verification email that Bethesda.net sent you at the time of account creation in order to dismiss this message. 2) Some users who have created Bethesda.net user names are also reporting they are seeing this message. This user group is experiencing a delay in backend services that we are working dilligently to resolve. We apologize for the inconvenience and want to remind this user group that they can excuse the message and play the game unimpeded.
Issue: Pinned Weapon challenges on HUD are removed after reloading a checkpoint.
Resolution: Re-pin the Weapon Challenge. This will be addressed in a future patch.
Issue: Weekly Challenges must be re-pinned after beginning a Mission from the Fortress of DOOM.
Resolution: Re-pin the Weekly Challenge. This will be addressed in a future patch.
Issue: Sentinel Status is not always removed consistently from players.
Resolution: Re-accessing the Social Menu will correctly display the Sentinel Status of selected players. This will be addressed in a future patch.
Issue: Saves on Ultra-Nightmare difficulty are not deleted if the game is closed on the Game Over screen.
Resolution: This is an intended function of the Ultra-Nightmare experience. Although the game cannot be progressed on a given save after dying, saves will only be deleted with user permission.
Issue: Player is unable to access the Weapon Wheel if the Weapon Wheel function is bound to the Photomode key (D-Pad down)
Resolution: Do not assign Weapon Wheel to the same function as Photomode.
Issue: Why aren’t my friends receiving my Party invites?
Resolution: In some situations, delivery of party invitations may be delayed. Re-send a party invite if it fails to arrive after a minute or two.
Issue*: I’ve killed all the Demons in the current arena, but demon gates are still blocking me.*
Resolution: Demons may escape from their gates in rare situations. In most cases they return to the main arena shortly. However, if they persistent, restarting from the previous saved checkpoint resolves this issue.
Issue: Can I play a BATTLEMODE match with a friend on another platform?
Resolution: DOOM Eternal currently does not support cross-platform multiplayer
Issue: Can I invite my friends to a private match or party from [Xbox One/PS4/Steam/Bethesda.net/Stadia] system software?
Resolution: You can only currently invite friends to private matches and parties via the in-game Social Menu. Will be updating DOOM Eternal to support system software invites in the near future.
Issue*: The TAB key will stop functioning as a keybind for opening the dossier if the user minimizes the game window with alt-enter.*
Resolution*: In order to restore this functionality, the user needs to first maximize the title, then alt-tab out of the game and alt-tab back into the game.*
Issue*: I have the Bethesda.net PC version of the DOOM Eternal. Is there a way for me to add or remove friends in game or on the Bethesda.net launcher?*
Resolution: The Bethesda.net launcher does currently not have a friends management feature. If you play with users in BATTLEMODE matches you can add them as a "Favorite" and they will show up in the Favorites tab and invite them through the Social menu.
Accounts/Entitlement Redemption:
Issue: My Milestones don't show up when I change save game slots. Is there anything I can do?
Resolution: This is by design. Your Milestone progression is unique to each save game slot.
Issue: Milestone rewards don’t unlock if the player is offline when the Milestone is achieved.
Resolution: This will be addressed in a future patch.
Issue: Is there a way to link my Bethesda.net account out of the game?
Resolution: You can link your Bethesda.net account on the web here: https://bethesda.net/
Issue: I'm on my first play-through of the campaign and the Slayer Gate Keys aren't appearing. Is there anything I can do about this?
Resolution: Deactivating Cheat Codes in the Mission Select menu will resolve this.
Stadia:
Issue: Why am I seeing "This account is already online with DOOM Eternal on another device" on Stadia?
Resolution: In periods of heavy traffic, Stadia players may need up to 3 minutes before being able to access the title on another device with their same account. Close the play session on your current device and wait several minutes before accessing on a second device.
Issue: When I move from one device to another while playing on Stadia, I get a message saying "This account is already online with DOOM Eternal on another device. Please exit DOOM Eternal on other devices and retry." Is there anything I can do about this?
Resolution: Try again in 3 minutes. There is currently a 3 minute cooldown when switching devices while playing DOOM Eternal on Stadia.
PC Technical issues:
Issue: When playing BATTLEMODE as a Pain Elemental on PC, the Lost Souls move erratically when using the Soul Shield ability. Is there anything I can do about this?
Resolution: This happens for some PC users when they are playing with V-Sync disabled. Re-enabling V-Sync should resolve the issue.
Issue: UI elements appear too dim or bright while playing in HDR mode on PC. Is there anything I can do about this?
Resolution: This issue happens when Windows is not set to HDR display mode. Enabling HDR display mode in Windows should mitigate the issue.
Issue I am playing the game on PC and frequently encounter connection lost messages in-game? Is there anything I can do to resolve this?
Resolution: First, make sure you follow standard internet connection troubleshooting steps (ISP service issues, poor WiFi connection, etc.). You will also want to make sure that your Windows Date and Time are set automatically (located in the lower right-hand corner of your Windows task bar).
Issue*: I have an NVIDIA GPU and experience a flickering effect with HDR enabled on my HDR-supported monitor? Is there anything I can do about this?*
Resolution: To resolve this issue, please download and install NVIDIA GPU drivers version 445.75 from the links below:
Win 7: https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/159086/en-us
Win 10: https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/159091/en-us
Issue: The Automap appears dark on my PC's HDR-capable monitor when HDR is enabled? Is there anything I can do about this?
Resolution: We apologize for the inconvenience. We are working to address this in an upcoming PC patch. If you make heavy use of the Automap, we recommend you play with HDR disabled in the interim.
Issue: When I try to run DOOM Eternal on PC, I get the following error: "The server is not reachable, check your internet connection and click "Retry"". What do I do?
Resolution: To resolve this issue, head to the Control Panel on your computer, go to "Internet Options", select the "Advanced" tab, scroll down to "Security", enable "Use TLS 1.2", and then click "OK".
Issue: I meet the minimum system requirements and have the latest GPU drivers installed, but am experiencing performance and/or stability issues. Are there any troubleshooting steps I can take to ensure the game runs as expected on my system?
Resolution: First make sure that your system actually meets the minimum system spec requirements and has the latest GPU drivers installed. That information is available elsewhere in this FAQ.Users who have confirmed they meet the minimum system requirements and have the latest GPU drivers installed will experience performance and possibly stability issues if they are running settings that are inappropriate for their PC configuration. For best resultsusers who have a GPU that has no more than 4GB of dedicated VRAM should run the game at 1080p at Low Quality settings. Users who have a GPU that has no more than 8GB of dedicated VRAM should run the game at 1440p at High Quality settings (monitor permitting).Because there are so many possible PC configurations, you may need to take a trial and error approach to get the very best reslts for your PC configuration. Reducing Texture and Shadow Quality will be the first option you'll want to experiment with if you are looking for custom game settings.
Issue: I am encountering audio issues (i.e. dropouts, missing audio) when using a bluetooth headset on my PC. What can I do?
Resolution: Your issue may be resolved by turning off "handsfree telephony" on your PC. Head to the "control panel", "view devices and printers", double click the headset you're using, open "properties", select the "services" tab, untick "handsfree telephony" and then select ok.
Issue: Verifying the integrity of game files will cause the game to shut down when loading classic DOOM II from the in-game Hub.
Resolution: We're working on resolving this in a future update. In the meantime, we recommend users avoid using this Steam option unless required to as part of troubleshooting.
Issue: Why am I seeing poor performance while using G-Sync or Freesync?
Resolution: For best performance with these features, enable V-sync from the in-game graphics settings. Note that 3rd party tools configured to limit frame rates may adversely impact performance.
Issue: I have an AMD GPU and HDR monitor, but the game won't run in HDR display mode. What can I do to resolve this?
Resolution:To run the game in HDR display mode on supported monitors, players with AMD GPUs need to have the official DOOM Eternal release drivers (20.3.1). Download them here: https://www.amd.com/en/support...
Issue*: I have the latest GPU drivers installed and meet minimum system specs, but the game doesn't launch correctly or crashes on launch. Is there anything I can do?*
Resolution: For some users, there's a chance you don't have all of the required DirectX files installed. Reinstalling the DirectX runtime libraries from the following location may resolve this issue: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109If reinstalling the DirectX runtime libraries doesn't resolve the issue, there's a chance your motherboard BIOS or CPU drivers are out of date.
For AMD Ryzen CPU users, updating your motherboard's BIOS and Ryzen chipset drivers may resolve this issue. The BIOS and chipset drivers are the links between your hardware and the operating system. Updating to the latest software ensures users have the latest performance and stability enhancements for the platform. To prevent the game crashing on your Ryzen system, please update your BIOS to the latest version using the files and procedures found on the motherboard manufacturer's website. Additionally, you will need to update your chipset drivers which can be found here.
Issue: The specifications published online don’t match the specifications on my boxed copy. Will my PC be able to run DOOM Eternal?
Resolution: Performance optimizations during development resulted in the expectations for performance on the minimum specification to increase for the majority of players. PCs that meet the published back-of-box specifications will still run at those settings, but most users will be able to run at more graphically intensive settings.
Issue: DOOM Eternal fails to launch or crashes while launching on my Laptop.
Resolution: We do not officially support laptop hardware. Laptops that conform to the supported hardware specifications may run DOOM Eternal.
Issue: Game window is resetting to default resolution after removing monitors while game is running.
Resolution: Issue is caused by changing hardware while title is active. Add/remove hardware before launching the game.
Issue*: Does DOOM Eternal support Crossfire for AMD or SLI for NVIDIA GPUs?*
Resolution: DOOM Eternal does not support Crossfire for AMD or SLI for NVIDIA GPUs. If you play the game with Crossfire or SLI enabled, you will experience performance issues or even crash. If you have dual GPUs on your PC, plug both monitors into the primary GPU before you play DOOM Eternal.
Issue*: Game crashes when changing settings to Ultra, Nightmare, or Ultra-Nightmare on some systems using only 8 GB of system RAM with Nvidia GeForce RTX GPUs.*
Resolution: When playing the game on these cards, keep settings at High or increase system RAM to at least 16 GB.
Issue: Game does not launch on Windows 8 with an AMD GPU installed.
Resolution: The latest AMD drivers are incompatible with DOOM Eternal on Windows 8.1. Install the AMD Radeon driver version 19.10.1 in order to play DOOM Eternal.
Issue: Game or PC crashes when turning off Vertical Sync while OBS is open.
Resolution: The DOOM Eternal game-ready drivers from AMD resolves this issue. This can also be worked around setting V-Sync to “On”, “Adaptive”, or “Triple Buffered” on older AMD GPU driver releases.
Issue: Game crashes when launched on Intel or AMD integrated graphics chipsets.
Resolution: Integrated Graphics options are not supported.
Issue: Some areas of the screen are obscured by large numbers of black particles.
Resolution: If the issue is encountered, assuming you are able to run the game, disabling the Depth of Field option will resolve this issue.
Issue: Game loads to a black screen when launching in full-screen mode.
Resolution: This issue is caused by the DOOM Eternal executable getting quarantined by an Anti-Virus program. Add an exception to your Anti-Virus program to resolve.
Issue*: The game won't launch on my laptop.*
Resolution: Make sure that the laptop uses its dedicated GPU and that the laptop is plugged into power. (This may also help with some desktops that use mother boards that have integrated GPUs.) Your NVIDIA driver needs to be setup to pick the dedicated GPU.
Issue: Game performance is degraded while playing with external software overlays enabled, such as MSI Afterburner, ReShade and others. There is also a known issue with the Steam overlay that can result in performance degradation.
Resolution: Disable any external software overlay to improve performance. You may also want to try disabling the Steam overlay. Please use the in-game performance metric display to track FPS and other valuable runtime performance metrics.
Console Known issues:
Issue: DOOM Slayer fist remains on screen and player is unable to change to any weapon
Resolution: Reloading the previous checkpoint resolves the issue.
Issue*: I'm a console player and the game crashes when I try to play the original DOOM or DOOM II from the Fortress of DOOM. Is there anything I can do?*
Resolution: We appologize for the inconvenience. We are working to address this in our next console update. Stay tuned for more details.
PS4 Known issues:
Issue*: I'm encountering an error that says "You do not have permission to access this content."*
Resolution: Check your "addons" in DOOM Eternal and make sure the campaign is downloaded. If it is and you can't access the game, go into PS4 Settings > Account Management > Restore Licenses. Once the licenses restore you should no longer see this message and can play the game.
Xbox One Known issues:
Issue*: For physical copies of DOOM Eternal on Xbox One, users must download the available patch which allows users to properly unlock achievements. It is highly recommended that owners of physical copies download that update. If a user with a disc copy of DOOM Eternal bypasses the update, achievements will not be unlocked.*
Resolution*: To prevent the issue, please ensure you have downloaded the patch (1.0.0.6). Digital copies of DOOM Eternal will automatically download the patch.*
If you’ve bypassed the patch and have played the game, in order to resolve the issue, the user must delete all title-associated save data from 'Manage games' and repeat the achievement criteria in an online state to unlock achievements after this issue occurs.
Issue: Pre-Order / Deluxe items purchased from the Xbox One store may not immediately appear in game.
Resolution: Items are guaranteed to be awarded over a period of time, but to speed up this process, players can enter the Bethesda.Net settings menu and claim items by selecting the “Reclaim Entitlements” option.
Issue: The initial chunk for the game has installed, but I’m unable to launch the campaign
Resolution: DOOM Eternal requires the title to be fully installed before starting a new campaign. Please wait for the install to complete and try again.
Issue: I’ve installed the DOOM Eternal (Campaign) from disc, why can’t I start a new campaign?
Resolution: In order to play the campaign, all components of DOOM Eternal must be installed from disc (both BATTLEMODE and Campaign). After inserting the disc, select ‘Install All’ to ensure your ability to play.

No more consoles for me.

I put a deposit on the new Xbox but.....
I want to build my own desktop.
I've been looking around online for weeks now and it's a little head wrecking.
I would love a list of the parts I would need(not brands or models, just like CPU, graphics card and motherboard etc)
I assume they don't, but don't know for sure. Do all brands work together? do they all have compatible cables? If I do finally get it built, can I upgrade individual parts over time? To save myself the initial costs. My budget would be about €500-650 not including monitor, mouse keyboard.
Basically I'm looking for a general blueprint to making a desktop.

So the games I would be looking to play would be offline/single player modes mostly. The likes of Red dead, gta ,fallout, skyrim, Assasins creed.
If you people don't help, I'm buying the first one I see on amazon and I hope ye can live with that! :(
Thanking you, Liam :)

The Outer Worlds : A review of how it's more than just another scifi RPG

TLDR: The Outer Worlds is awesome, please try it, any way you can
Xbox Game Pass for PC is available at a heavy discount for the first month and quite reasonable rate (in my country) from the next month onwards. Bought it to try out The Outer Worlds. Very happy with the decision so far.
It's been a long time since i've felt this old-school feeling about a game. When you basically can't get enough of it, ignore friends/family/other responsibilities around you, play for hours with only bathroom and food breaks; and when the weekend is over you want to take two more days off just to keep the high going.
The Outer Worlds gave me this feeling for the first time in many years. Objectively speaking there is nothing ground-breaking in the game. Standard RPG style character development, skill trees, main story, side quests, inventory management, weapon management, companion relationships, etc etc, you get the idea. Nothing you haven't seen before in another game. So why does this one feel so good?
It's just...... polished? Competently developed? Tightly written? Has a satisfyingly long single-player campaign? Can be played offline? Completely lacks microtransactions? Well, all of these and more. Not to mention i haven't encountered a single bug so far. I am only about 8-10 hours into the game but i can state the following with high confidence: The main story, while not revolutionary in terms of narrative entertainment, is still excellently written.
You are a human who chose to leave Earth behind in search of a life in a space colony. But your colony ship's faster-than-light drive mysteriously malfunctions leaving you just frozen in a cryo pod for 70 years, never reaching your intended destination. Finally a fugitive scientist comes and saves you and sends you on multiple quests to help revive your other frozen colony-mates and take down the corporate overlords who left you to die in space. The writing of individual quests is tight, characters are compelling, companions are endearing and it truly does feel like you are playing through a well-written sci-fi novel. I am already in love with the very first companion you meet in the playthrough (Parvati). You meet many other interesting characters along the way, including the quirky scientist who saves you.
The developers have said that the story branches out and leads to many different endings based on player choices. I haven't progressed far enough to verify this, but within the first couple of hours of gameplay, i have already come across a quest where you have to make a tough moral decision. Loved it.
How about the gameplay itself? Basic movement, combat, conversation, exploration, discovery, etc is superbly polished. Standard sneak/stealth mechanics from Skyrim/Fallout are used. Combat is satisfying/rewarding depending on the difficulty you choose. Exploration and looting is a lot of fun because the worlds are so well built. Finding, crafting and upgrading your weapons and armour is easily accessible in the early stages to get you really engaged, but also challenging enough later on, so that you have to put some proper thought in managing your resources, again how well you have to do it depends on your chosen difficulty. Conversations and choices have branching options. Conversations contain many skill checks such as persuasion/intimidation/lying (similar to Fallout/Mass Effect).
And finally graphics & sound. Wont say much about this. There are already enough gameplay videos on YouTube where you can see for yourself how AWESOME the graphics in this game are. Exploration is a visual treat. Voice acting is also very competently done. The voice actor for Parvati is Ashly Burch (from Life is Strange and Horizon Zero Dawn), and she does a phenomenal job. The main character is not voiced but you can customise your appearance, and the dialogue options you get are varied enough that you can craft out your own personality.
But again, it's not just the above individual areas the game does well in, the combination as a whole creates a supremely satisfying gaming experience. The whole game, in this case, is much greater than the sum of its parts.

My EP threw my TV off my balcony because I didn't do as he said...

So this is a story about my control freak of a stepdad. Sorry for formatting and mistakes I'm on mobile. Here's some Context. I moved from England to a small island called Cyprus with my Mum and my step dad because his father had been assaulted and he wanted to be there for his now crippled father, which I respected.
I lived there for 6 years and through those 6 years I endured constant shit stream of bullshit from my stepfather. He always expected that I do the best in all my classes and anything less than an A would result in a 1 month ban from everything I owned, including books. Now with a little context out of the way I'll get into THE incident.
So I had failed a test and had been banned from all my shit, but I took my phone to school with me. I'm 17 and I worked my ass of in a warehouse to buy that phone with my own money so I though "He can't take this off me, its a symbol of my individuality. I worked hard and I'll be damned if he takes this away." Long story short I get home and he instantly tells me to give me my phone the exchange goes something like this.
Me: "No, it's mine"
EP: "I said give it to me Zlyword, now and when you do you can go and sit at your desk for 6 hours and study since that's how long you had your phone at school. And no breaks six straight hours"
Me: "It's 4PM you think I'm going to do that? No. It's my phone I bought it with my own money. I'm calling my dad" (My dad still lives in England so I could only call him through Skype and Whatsapp. No Sim in my phone at the time)
EP: "Not using my WiFi you're not!" He rushed to he router and tugged the power cord out of the back
I clenched my jaw and tried not to punch the little fucker in the face there and then. He's shorter than me by a lot and though I'm not muscled he was fat so I could have easily have taken him. I still kinda wish I did
Me: You know what EP? It's thongs like this that make me hate you. You're a controlling little freak. I bought this and have every right to keep it. (he really didn't like that)
His face began to turn red and stared daggers at me EP: "How dare you!! Don't you disrespect me in my house you worthless sack of shit!! All you do is sit in your room and play games with your stupid faggot friends, while me and your mother work our asses off to pay for.."
He began to walk up to me and I put my hand in his chest and push him back as he tried to snatch my phone from my hand. I'm quite a hot head so it's surprising I didn't fucking ground and pound the cunt. Instead I stepped back told him to go fuck himself with a cactus and went up to my room. I thought he'd leave me alone and wait for my mum to get home but boyyyy was I wrong.
He barges into my room still, practically glowing red. At this pint I'm playing Skyrim on my Xbox one since it was an offline game and that pissed him off even more. He grabbed my TV, which I also bought with my own money I earned from my job, a nice 36inch 1080p TV and rips the cables out and launches it from my balcony 3 floors up from the ground. I scream at him and ask he what the fuck is he doing and that when my dog starts barking at him. This sick bastard kicked my dog so hard she skidded across my room. That's when I loose my shit and punch him full force in the gut. He fell to his knees and I ran over to my dog. Shes 11 years old and I've had her since she was a puppy and I was 6. She was in England and Cyprus with me and the vet told me he broke 2 of her ribs with that kick. I'll save what went on between him and my mum because that's way more personal but I'm back in England now, living with my dad and away for that stupid prick.
Sorry for any spelling mistakes or grammar errors, I still get pretty worked up when I think about this. And if a friendly someone in the comments can tell me how ill put a imgur link for a photo of my Staffie, Tia, the dog that I love with my whole heart. Thanks for reading, I justvreaalky wanted to get this off my chest
Edit: Thank you all for the kind comments, it really means alot to me. To a answer a question that was asked alot, yes my doggo is OK and safe with me back in England. She's recovering still since this only happened 2 months ago but I'm taking extra good care of her, especially since she is so old
Here's my little baby http://imgur.com/gallery/znHFtVu She's my banner pic aswell

Alternate Start won't let me start a new game and locks me in infinite loading regardless of it's position in mod order. Also causes infinite load when I try to enter other characters with current mods open

EDIT: I found a fix. Thank you all for the help!
Every single time I try to start a new game with Alternate Start enabled, I'm put into an infinite load screen until I force quit. I play on Xbox one, so nobody has really given an answer to my question no matter how much googling I do (I just came here before typing this to ask for help). I would like to play a roleplay character and I need the options from AS to do it well. I have already tried moving around AS to several different locations in my load order, and I have also tried going offline and restarting my Xbox. I am only able to have Reddit on my phone, so I can't provide a link to Modwatch (I can't access Imgur, so I can't just take images of my mod list). Here's my enabled mods, in order:
•USSEP
•Cloaks of Skyrim
•"amazingfollowertweaks.esp"
•"unreadbooksglow.esp"
•The Great Forest of Whiterun Hold
•Breezehome
•"Mihail Monsters and Animals-Bo..."
•Unique Uniques
•Naruto Ultimate Overhaul
•Ultra Weapons Pack (by Hellfog)
• Insignificant Object Remover
• 60+ New Eye colors by "CornPast..."
•"hdeyes.esp
•Unrelenting Force Ultra
•Speedsters XB1
•WOWBAGGER
•Kings of Hell: Behind Enemy Lines
•Infinite Weapon's Magic Power
•Heavy Armory
•Immersive Movement
•The paarthurnax dilemma
•Immersive patrols
•Realistic Water Two
•Old Kingdom
•Cheat Room
•Unlimited Shouting
•Skyland Watercolor
•NAT
•Stormcloaks for good guys
•I am the horker
•main menu mod
•loading screen
•Ultimate Skyrim Music Replacer
•Sovngarde-Mist's Font Replacer
•Spawn NPC-Reworked
•Point The Way
•Color patches remover
•Vortikai's Dragon Aspect Toggler
•Alternate Start- Live Another Life
•Open Cities (French translation)
I apologise for any inconveniences caused by my comment, and if I broke any rules on accident (even though I just read them, albeit quickly), I will fix them as a new member.

Cheats / Mods for the XBOX that you can save with?

Are there any cheats / mods for the xbox one that you can save the game with? Would love to get my mod on like I have on Skyrim and Fallout, but the only info I can find is on the cheats in the game , which apparently prevent you from saving it, which seems a bit of a cop out to be honest, fair enough if you can't play online / earn achievements with active mods / cheats , but I'd like to play my game offline with some active mods / cheats.

The Outer Worlds : A review/rant (positive)

TLDR: The Outer Worlds is awesome, please try it, any way you can
Xbox Game Pass for PC is available at ₹50 for the first month and ₹330 (plus taxes) from the next month onwards. Bought it to try out The Outer Worlds. Very happy with the decision so far.

I have installed all of these games from a disc, and played them without an Internet connection. If you rent or purchase these discs, they will install on your Xbox One, even if the console is not online. (NOTE: Some discs will not install without the external storage DVR firmware. These are noted on the list. This firmware can be downloaded onto a USB drive and installed onto an offline console. )

Hey i am having an relocation in a few days and because of this i am searching for a few games that you can play offline. In my new house i am not going too have Internet for like 2weeks(thats what my Internet provider did tell me). Because of that i am searching for a few games that i am going to be able too play in this time.
Long story short here are my preferences:
-I only have good gaming pc so its not possible for me too play ps4 or xboxOne exlusvie titles
-it have to be a game that you can play with a controller because at the beginning i dont have a desk too play on just a tv and my controller.
-It would be great if the game wouldnt be too old(like not more than 10 years)
Games I like so you have a overview what kind of game i like:
So yeah thats about it I would love a game that play in a fantasy/anime/medival setting where you have combat system like dark souls or assains creed odyssey or Monster hunter world, and be overpowered but not too much(Not like in an hack and slash game).
The price of the game doesnt matter because i saved a little bit of money over this month and would be happy to spend it on 1 or 2 games :).
Over any game suggestions I would be more then happy so just write whatever you think would be great game for me :D.

Any Mods / cheats you can save with? XBOX

Fallout 76 game design and the Borderlands Dillema

I don’t think “40% fallout 4, 40% borderlands/rust, 20% battle royale” does the game, or the new ground Bethesda is breaking, good justice.
The TL;DR: In its present state, the game panders to one specific demographic, and several design decisions will either render this game unworkable at worse, or be a huge step back from the immersion we’re expecting at best, for many core Bethesda audiences that want to explore a big immersive world. How Bethesda will steer this beast in the coming weeks, months and years is yet to be seen.
The “my attention span exceeds 60 seconds” version:
My beta impression is that they’ve taken on a REALLY difficult challenge - to force the me that played Borderlands alone, and the me that played Borderlands with a collaborative team of up to 4, into the same game instance.
The two outcomes from here are either “they discovered the way it can (successfully) be done”, or perhaps more realistically, “demonstrated why it should not be done”.
Those two me’s are two different audiences. And the core of the challenge is that making it good for one makes it bad for the other.
In the past they catered to different audiences using audience-specific presets, which we all know as game difficulty levels. The current road they chose is a one-size-fits-all and that creates some difficult, possibly game-destroying challenges.
A huge audience plays Fallout/Elder-Scrolls for immersion.
Where games like Fortnite or Overwatch do away with a strong emotional connection between the player and the ambient world by actively cartoonifying and toning down investment in the world’s graphics, Bethesda’s titles always aimed for this huge immersive experience.
That’s why one large audience pays them money.
When I’m that audience, I take my time. I explore nooks and crannies. I’m not under time pressure to keep up.
Another audience is those who love coop. I love that too, but that’s not immersion play. The hallmark of this play style is the social pressure of keeping up with the squad.
As this piece (https://www.polygon.com/2018/10/25/18024388/fallout-76-beta-impressions-xbox-one-ps4-windows-pc) nicely puts it, “... you’d be surprised how hard it is just to go find something in a mission when one person has already found it and is trying to tell you where it is; another is saying they’re standing right over it, and a third has already completed the mission and talking about something else entirely. “
Spot-on.
First, a note about humans and introversion.
Extroverted people recharge from contact with other humans, and lose energy when alone.
Introverted people recharge from alone, and expend energy by being around other humans.
Our community has lots of both, and pandering to one by sticking it to the other is a really, really terrible idea.
Introverted people play immersive games in droves specifically to get away from other humans and recharge. Forcing other humans, particularly unfamiliar humans, on them is basically a “we’d like everyone who is an introvert to stop paying us money” kind of ... umm... dubious business decision.
Then there’s the question of who. Not all “_other human players_” are born equal.
While some co-op lovers are ok to team up with strangers, others just don’t want to fling on the strangers-facing part of the brain (for any of a number of human reasons), and co-op to them is solely conditioned on bringing their own water bottle, so to speak, into the game world, and nobody else.
Those are two separate co-op-willing sub-audiences and it pays to carefully think through the needs of each.
Back from the tangent, and back to marrying self-paced immersive play with team-based co-op.
I can be either audience, really, either the “let’s focus on the together thing and not worry about exploring that barn”, or “ooh, I wonder what’s in that barn”, but not at the same time.
My partner is a self-paced immersive player only, and dislikes the other style.
Not just actively partaking in it, but how it totally breaks her own experience.
And that has 4 layers, each of which Bethesda is likely to be progressively less motivated to fix (Prove me wrong BSG designers :))
A. vastly differently-aged people in your headphones, talking about the things their age group talks about, in the way their age group talks. Big no-no. That chatter DESTROYS immersion.
(For context, we’re ~40. I’ve played every fallout since 1 and every elder scrolls since 3).
This is just the beta default they chose - on by default, and what’s worse no push to talk, so you hear people’s home background screaming-kids/bad-language/domestic-abuse/farting (and yours is shared with everyone else!) as part of your game ambience. Hope they release with a more sensible default.
You can kill it in settings, limit it to team mates, or just to people near you. Up to you. But that’s the red herring really.
B. World characters with a label that says xxxh4X0Rxxx jumping around in your face, running into an environment you were setting up to tackle. The game designers suggested that’s handled partially by keeping the number of players per instance relatively low and allowing you to find areas to explore alone.
We’ll see, but that still creates these game zones where this audience is thinking about a part of a map using “here there be immersion breakage” (a cousin of “that area is bugged, need to stay away”) toxic psychology that any game designer worth their salt tries to design out of the game.
Ease of fixing for Bethesda: moderate, but really depends on how much backend server infrastructure is needed to run each instance, and how much $$$ they’re prepared to spend on running it. Regardless of how, the answer remains to allow invite-only/individual game instances as an option. (Or, you know, an offline option).
C. Absence of human NPC’s. That’s scary, but I’ll see how the engagement with what they did create goes before I pass judgement.
Difficulty of fixing: near impossible, save in subsequent far harbonuka-world style DLC’s or future titles.
D. Absence of INTERACTION in the story.
The reason people use Facebook less and Reddit more is because reddit gives us power over the contents of our feed, and Facebook keeps that power to itself.
Bethesda, take note.
Fallout 76, in true MMO fashion, we are no longer a decision-making participant in the story. There are no 2-way dialogues that shape the story. The story is on set rails, and the track goes around in a circle. This is pretty much Borderlands. There’s a 1-way inflow of information being broadcast at us, and our story related choices don’t matter. And that’s... the immovable line in the sand that separates an MMO from a game with an interactive story.
Bethesda, You’ve made us not matter. (And we did notice this).
Close to the line though F76 may be, “offering a fallout-4 experience” its designers may think it does, it’s squarely on the MMORPG side.
Difficulty of fixing: requires major direction shift, not likely. However, just like survival was layered on long after the release of F4 and Skyrim, so an interactive DLC (whether with human NPC’s or not) may get layered on - possibly as a sidecar nuka-world/far-harbosolatheim style map, later in 76’s lifecycle.
Which is a shame since so many of the game mechanics (crafting, schematics, leveling system) have the accumulated depth and lessons learned from F3, FNV, F4, ES3, 4 and 5 and all that detail is so worth exploring.
Sure, I can enjoy both playing it the solo way and the “rushed by the social timer” way, and next beta session me and my partner decided to experiment with a “loose collab” game style (which F76 allows much better than past collab games like borderlands), where every person will go anywhere they want and do their own thing while still being in our team of 2, trying to steer away from events and other humans and explore the world that way, to see how much of the immersion can be retained on the current terms.
I’m cautiously optimistic, she’s less so.
All this said, I applaud Bethesda for venturing into new ground and trying to make brave attempts at new game designs on such a huge brand project. Keep trying guys, and please, don’t stop listening to the community feedback and steering it as best you can.
👍🏻
One last bit.
Bethesda feels they can experiment and take risks, because they know if they try, and screw the pooch, they can come back and make a subsequent game with the design decisions that worked in the past, and most of us would absolutely still come back and give that a chance. And this dynamic - both their risk appetite and bravery, and a community that allows it - is friggin awesome and is worth celebrating. Even on the days such risks go sour. Going western with FNV was a risk they were prepared to take with the brand, and it worked superbly. Maybe this one will. Maybe this one won’t. But I really really hope Bethesda keep on taking these risks, and continue evolving the fallout/elder-scrolls open game world core for years to come.
Thanks BSG! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Edit: Tried loose collaborative gameplay with my partner. Works great. We're loving it. Just turn off the chat function under AUDIO, walk away from other humans and play the game without the social pressure. Feels like a proper Fallout game!

Why is such negative feedback coming from this game?

I'm a level 55, Xbox One X player.
Finished only a handful of quests, and primarily exploring, killing, looting, and joining others to perform above said actions. Still haven't launched a nuke, only just witnessed a flying Dragon thing, and haven't even touched 60% of the map.
I get absolutely LOST in West Virginia, in a fantastic way.
I can spend a good part of two hours with one goal in mind and get so side tracked exploring and hunting that I can't believe how firmly this game is grabbing me.
Bluntly, this is another Fallout game, new story and location, cool. But online. ONLINE. Remember when you wish you could play with a friend or others in Skyrim? Boom. The Elder Scrolls Online. Remember GTA being local only? Boom. Online. Halo? Boom. Destiny? (Close enough) Red Dead 2? Boom? Online? Everyone loves playing with friends and having competition or a leaderboard, but EVERY game has issues and bugs that managed to survive that intially launch stage, but for no reason at all, it's trendy to criticize Fallout 76.
All those above mentioned games had MAJOR bugs and instabilities. But people saw through that and churned out that hate towards the love of what is great about it.
It seems the latest trend is judge the flaws no matter the accomplishments that were achieved:
My point is we wanted something, have it, and people only complain about small details:
Imagine returning a game or quiting after a handful of bugs or glitches, dumb right? I've encountered a few bugs but nothing that would make me bad mouth the game. Clip through a wall here, take random damage there, miss an obvious shot here and loose my base there (By the way, you still get a FREE base rebuilt if you blueprint your base if it gets deleted for any reason). I even lost 400+ .308 ammo due to a bug with a public event, did I quit? No. I said "Well that sucks, better find some more." And moved on. Continuing on with our dot points:
You could NEVER do or say anything that'll stop me from buying a Halo game. I love the narrative (and not love at times), the gameplay, the evolution of the franchise, the small little details of previous games like the Grunt Birthday skull, everything. They could of pulled a Metroid on me and made Master Chef a woman with a Darth Vader like voice changer the whole time and I'd still love it. So being this brutally honest with a game I love I can still pick on certain things I don't like with Fallout 76 too, but it doesn't change my OVERALL view on the franchise or individual game.
The good FAR outweighs the bad. The working FAR outweighs the broken. The concept FAR outweighs the criticism.
I'm glad this subreddit has high hopes and encourages Bethesda to improve their game, our game.
I'm with you Bethesda to the end, whether this doesn't go well and becomes an offline only Fallout game, or untill a Raid still/mega expansion gets released. I'll still enjoy it because its Fallout, a legendary franchise, and the issues don't render this 'unplayable'.
TLDR: Give it time if you're on the fence or getting frustrated. Its a great game, it just needs an unbiast and patient chance.
Also, TLDR's are dumb. I expressed myself and told a story with intentions and views that one sentence cannot some up. Maybe you're a dirty button mashing, NPC ignoring, no good story skipper aint'cha? Didn't get that reference? Should've read the whole thing.

Really need help you guys! Startup Errors!

Hey guys, i’m really in a pickle with my Xbox and wanted to know if maybe anyone else has experienced what i am and could help. So it all started a little while ago when my Xbox froze up unexpectedly. After turning it back on it begun to have the green screen errors as i’m sure you guys are aware of. After many many resets and a offline update i finally got it to a stable point that i could play two games (skyrim and rocket league) without too much issue but hardly anything else including apps. Sometimes it would stuggle opening things and freeze during games a bit. Well just the other day i tried to download another game to play with a friend (apex legends) and it all went downhill. It started with it freezing, then it just would not get past the green screen if it did maybe to the black screen but that would be it. So I decided okay maybe if i reset it, it will work. But now i’m at this rough spot to where it will not progress past a reset. When i turn the xbox on it opens to the reset menu where everytime it will get to 50% and fail. At this point my only options are to turn the xbox off, do another offline update, restart, or do another reset that will inevitably be stuck at 50%. Please guys if there is any way that you guys know of i can fix my xbox please let me know. I’m in a financially tough spot rn and cant afford a new one so would love to be able to fix it. Thanks a ton for any responses in advance

FF Versus XIII to FFXV, Looking Back at the Past Decade (AKA the hardships Versus fans went through for the past 10 years, the complete summary!)

Disclaimer: This LONG ass post is written from a Versus/FFXV fan’s perspective as well as from a gamer’s perspective in Asia. Please read with open minds and remember, we're going back 10 years. Some circumstances were different, not just time wise but also culturally. This post is also somewhat biased towards Versus 13 and sarcastic at times. It just may delve into things a little too deep. As unnecessary as this may seem, this is just my way of coping and moving on by writing about it. To a casual FF fan or gamers that are not into FF series, I may sound unreasonable. LOL

These were the years of perseverance. The past 10 years have been a history of turmoil.
It’s merely a video game, but oh boy, I’ve never seen such chaotic game production process….
The history of anxiety and frustration ridden Versus fans from the beginning.

The hardships of the Versus fans for the past 10 years, the complete summary! Let’s walk down memory lane again, shall we?

So, where did this hot mess begin? Since the FFXIV mmorpg failed? After the delay of FFXII? And therefore delaying XIII? Or when the father of the Final Fantasy series, Sakaguchi, decided to direct a bloody film?

1. 2006 E3: Announcement of FFXIII Versus.

Square Enix announces XIII, Agito, & Versus, all 3 at the same time. The world of Fabula Nova Crystallis…..one of their biggest hype trains.
Some fans were livid with their decision to cut the main number into thirds. What was the significance of “Final Fantasy” then?
…And it failed. Because nothing went according to their plan. Agito (originally a mobile game) became Type-0 on PSP. The long awaited Versus, after being pushed around and drifting through a dark period, turned into XV after severing its ties with XIII.

2. 2006 November, Release of Playstation 3

One of the biggest misunderstanding and criticism on Versus was “what the hell have they accomplished for this long?” This is all thanks to the 2006 E3 trailer. The only thing anyone ever seemed to remember was the year it was released (and how great it seemed). No one cared about the hiatus period.
Versus Trailer Screenshot
Square Enix and Sony have a track record of releasing trailers that will never actually see the light, to raise sales for Sony consoles. It’s not just Versus 13. FF13’s “gameplay” was also a good example of this: http://i.imgur.com/MgNYTwU.jpg Just because the footage has UI (user interface), it doesn’t mean it’s real. The initial gameplay videos with UI in it were either all fake or completely scrapped. It’s a hype report strategy that buys them time and makes them look like they've made some progress...
Agito was different from the start, but 13 and Versus 13 were supposed to be Light vs Dark concept, equal in its importance. So people believed that Versus was not a supplementary game, but just as important as the main numbering. The reality was different, however. You can tell the difference from the title alone; there was a Final Fantasy 13 then Final Fantasy Versus 13. The latter couldn’t just be a numbering title, it needed the extra 'Versus' b/c there couldn't be two Final Fantasy 13s.
Doesn't matter if the fans thought them as equal, you could tell by the company’s priority/support and it also seems like Director Nomura treated Versus as a “sequel”. Because I don’t think his aesthetics and taste would have manifested like it did; things that may not have been accepted into a main numbering because it wasn't appealing (it was supposed to be pretty dark and tragic). He knows the weight of the main numbering Final Fantasy games more than anyone. [Director Nomura This is not his normal look, but you can clearly tell his aesthetics. You can see it from his usual self as well.]
The moment Versus changed into a main numbering, he had to sit down with Director Tabata and find the middle ground then eventually had to yield the project in the end. They ended up pretty much switching out everything in the game, except for the character design, which is the only aspect that stayed for a decade. [Noctis from early on Versus trailer]
Ironically, more interest was geared towards Versus rather than FF13. I, for one, was more interested in Versus 13 than the actual 13. This general reaction was probably due to high expectation from the big name Director Nomura rather than Director Toriyama of 13. This was also arguably a golden age for Nomura as a brand (Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2, Advent Children).
Wada Yoichi, the president of Square Enix at the time, was someone who might not have understood video games as much as he understood business. He was into simultaneous release of multiple things. There was some new IP project at the time to come out on a console, mobile phones, and PC. It was a failed attempt. If multiple platform/policy succeeds, then it will make a ton of money from its synergy effect, but if one fails, the others are likely to be cancelled. Despite big hopes, this project had failed. Of course, success wouldn't come without experiencing some failures at first, but it was probably better if they continued to test it on new ideas instead of being greedy enough to risk the company’s biggest brand, Final Fantasy series.
[FF7 10th Anniversary Potion FF7 AC/BC/CC/DC multiple project was a success, but that’s because the original game was so legendary and influential.]
Why did Final Fantasy experience success on a whole different level compared to other JRPGS? Because every time, they went in with a mindset of 'this is the FINAL one' (rinse & repeat lol) and they were ground breaking at the time. So, if you take on a project 3 times bigger, would that success also triple? It could have and that would have been great, but this time it cut all their resources into thirds.

3. PS3 in the Era of Xbox’s Major Success

PS3 and HD age had arrived. Playstation 3 era was not a good one for Square Enix. PS3's system was too unaccommodating (in terms of cell architecture) to a point no one could work with it, so SE decided to make a special PS3 engine for the Final Fantasy series called White Engine. But it must have been a very difficult process, because in June of 2008, Nomura had stated Versus was on hold due to their team having to help with the development of FF13. (Director Nomura probably thinking 'no one's left on my team...')
Sony was fluttering around as well. Ever since the release of PS3, not only did it have a hard time competing with Xbox, but there wasn’t a hardware yet available even for Japan, their home ground. It was as if Sony was waiting for FF13 to make the first move so other Japanese games could be made for PS3 and Square was waiting for Sony to have someone else start on the hardware for PS3 games before their new main number FF game.
There were even rumors that FF13 was actually completed, but they were tiptoeing around because there wasn’t a hardware available yet. In the midst of rumors and concerns, the most sensational incident takes place at E3 in July of 2008.

4. The Shock of FFXIII Multiplatform Announcement

There were different reactions among fans from either sides of the 2 consoles or both, but Final Fantasy fans thought “Oh! They clearly figured out the hardware for both, so the game’s going to be released soon!”
But according to Nikkei newspaper, Hashimoto Shinji said in a press conference that Xbox decision was a fairly recent one. Perhaps the board of Square Enix considered doing business with Microsoft after being anxious from the sales numbers of Metal Gear Solid 4, despite how well the game was received.
So in the end, the reason why FF13 took so long was because they were having a hard time adjusting to PS3, and at last when they finished the White Engine, their boss was like, “Okay, now make one for X-box too! K? Thnx LOL” so they were like, how do we start again?! So, they had to invent Crystal Tool, which means all the other teams and their work had to be put on hold to help out. [The day Sony probably felt a little betrayed]
And poor Director Nomura. The multiplatform decision was not his, it was Wada Yoichi’s choice. Yet Nomura is the face of these franchises in many ways from doing interviews and being generally well known. After promising over and over again in interviews that FF13 and Versus 13 will be Playstation exclusive ever since the beginning back in 2006, and even assured it in another interview one day before the multiplatform announcement, he was branded as a liar and a betrayer from the Plastation fanboys world wide, as well as Japanese gamers.
After a huge embarrassment, he said he can’t do anything about the decisions made above him, but even though 13 was announced to be multiplatform, his team is separate, so at least Versus will remain Playstation exclusive. He assured us again as the director.
To make things even worse, White Engine, which seemed promising with elegant graphics for FF13, was not compatible with Versus, an action based RPG. So…the Versus team got to relive the tragedy FF13 team went through. They were in need of an engine, so they decided to develop their own special engine for the game. I mean, talk about how extremely inefficient it must have seemed to create an engine for every game. [One of the first images I saw for FF13, Lightning & Noctis]
So, after agonizing in between PS3’s notoriously odd cell architecture and inadequate ram, on top of the horrible compatibility with the White Engine, Ebony Engine was born (how fitting for FFXV). However, while Ebony engine was used in some trailers, without being able to show its full potential, it was soon combined with Luminous Engine and goes through a generation change. After all that, Luminous development process goes at a snail’s pace that Kingdom Hearts 3 and FFVII Remake gives up on their own company’s engine and takes on Unreal Engine 4. LOL are you serious….

5. 2008 TGS: The Main Heroine: Stella

The main characters’ names are revealed for the first time at the Tokyo Game Show as Noctis and Stella. The trailer was yet to have voice recordings, but we saw the first practice footage, a subtitled party scene of them near an aquarium tank. This particular scene was later moved to the movie Kingsglaive and evoked nostalgia from Versus fans. Party Aquarium Tank scene from Versus 13 to Kingsglaive.
What was revealed about Versus at this point:

7. 2009 December 17th, The Release of Final Fantasy 13

At last, FF13 was released. It was also released in North America 3 months later. Versus fans thought, “It’s Versus’ turn next! They can finally focus on their own project. Since Versus team went all in to help FF13, maybe the FF13 team will help Versus?” (HA! Yeah Right).

8. Rumors of Multiplatform Release for Versus

There were so many rumors about Versus at this time. 'The game was dissipated due to Nomura’s incompetence'. Or, 'Nomura lost an in-company political war against (formal) President Wada'. And more. We won't know the actual internal affairs, but two things seemed to be true.
  1. 1 Nomura Tetsuya is a huge Playstation fanboy supporter.
  2. 2 President Wada Yoichi wants multiplatform release.
I mean, this fanart wasn’t created and circulated for no reason…(Wada is saying "All Final Fantasy shall be with Microsoft..." & the big print is Nomura saying, "I shall protect Versus")
On the other hand, the management of the dev team’s statements seemed quite different from the interest of the SE's business board. Hashimoto: “In terms of Versus 13, since it’s Director Nomura Tetsuya’s development, there is no question about it (PS3 exclusive release).”
Interview in Eurogamer News from 2011 January: "Final Fnatasy Versus XIII remains a Plastation 3 exclusive, Square Enix has confirmed. Director Tetsuya Nomura revealed at a Tokyo press conference this morning, reported by RPGSite, that he “stood his ground on the platform”.
Occasionally, the development team would remind us of the exclusive aspect again while their President clearly seemed to have his interest in the multiplatform aspect.
Now, from a current perspective, this may seem really silly and stupid to argue over, but at the time it was a serious problem (Change is not well received in general). Obviously, Sony didn’t create the FF series, but sort of think of it as Mario or Zelda deciding to go to Xbox and not be Nintendo exclusive anymore. After a false report of Versus 13 being released for Xbox by V Jump magazine in February of 2011, Square Enix’s stock pummeled immediately for a day before they corrected the article. It was a big deal.
Fans were also very worried that Nomura was going to quit and leave Square Enix like some famous director of Capcom after Biohazard (Resident Evil to the majority of you) became a multiplatform game….
In 2010, Versus’ scenario and character designs were completed.
In March, the team mentioned the flying airships in the game,
then in August, voice actor casting began in Japan.
And also in 2010, we hear that they are developing the next generation engine that specializes in lighting technology, Luminous.

9. 2010 September 30th: Release of FFXIV mmorpg for PC

Who would have thought this was going to be the cause of pain for the Versus fans? FF14 This game was received so negatively in the beginning, the initial free trials had to be extended twice. Then the servers eventually closed after only 2 months and it scored 4.0 on IGN (4.0 became the game's nickname to online communities). FF14 shuts down all services at the end of the year to go into a renewal process. To this day, this was an all time low in the history of Final Fantasy series and Square Enix goes into a state of emergency.

10. Announcement of Final Fantasy XIII-2

If you have played FF13, you know the ending wrapped the game up well, but they just had to keep going for some reason. On January 18th of 2011, FF13-2 gets announced at the Square Enix 1st Production Department Premier Event. Fans were certainly not expecting a sequel and Versus fans especially were extremely disappointed.
The development team of FF13 (that we hoped might help the Versus team) was now locked into making 13-2 and all development team's priority switches to resurrecting FF14 since the future of the company was on the line (and what a surprise!! It actually did become a success).
Some thought FF13-2 hindered Versus, but it actually might have been more FF14 than 13-2. This was one of the most critical disasters for Square Enix to have gone through since the movie failure (which caused Square to merge with their competitor, Enix). The profitability of online games is typically good and FF11 had been a good source of income. They wanted to pass the baton to FF14, so that it may continue the profit into the HD era. Therefore, the company invested a lot into the game, but all the investment became a loss instead of profit to a point where they couldn’t even collect the production cost after releasing it.
In an interview with Director Nomura that year in January, he asked “We have 13-2 and Type-0 this year, so please forget about Versus for a little while.” :'(

11. 2011 October: Release of Final Fantasy Type-0

Versus was big enough to receive offers to turn into XV, an actual numbering of FF series. So they probably decided to send out other projects in the meanwhile, to fill the financial deficit. Obviously fans were kept in the dark, so without knowing their plans, Versus fans were frustrated in the dark.
Final Fantasy Type-0 (Formerly known as Agito)
2011 December 15th: FF 13-2 gets released. Fans thought “Type-0 is out and FF13-2 is also out at last, nothing stands in the way of Versus development!” But perhaps we never learn. Everyone falls into despair during September of the following year. Why?
Because Lightening Returns (FF13-3) was announced. I guess we should have seen it coming after 13-2’s ending….

12. The Dark Ages of 2012

Around this time, Director Nomura becomes strangely quiet. He said he cannot comment on any of the matters for the year and then Versus cancellation rumors start to circulate, though the development team kept saying they were working on it. There was even a petition in North America during September of 2012 to release information on Versus.
March of 2012, Nomura said in a Famitsu magazine interview that they are aware of the demand for information on Versus and they’ve got things ready to meet those demands. However, due to other circumstances completely unrelated to it, they couldn’t release any information and he was not allowed to speak on the matter or the circumstances. He had to continue to negotiate, though we didn’t understand whom he was negotiating with or what was actually happening, Nomura wasn’t allowed to say.

13. 2012 July, Director Tabata Joins

Director Tabata says he began working on a prototype in July. Because they were yet to have a new generation engine, they were working with DirectX 11 Engine on PCs, with both PS3 & Xbox in mind. Of course, all of the details were secret internal information which was not out to the public at the time and we only found out later through some Kotaku interviews. By this time, fans have either come to terms with Versus and reached Nirvana level of patience, or gave up on it, or just had a lot of repressed resentment towards the game.

14. 2013 May 27th: Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn

New rumors began circulating in the spring of 2013. The fashion brand Roen (designed the main clothes from XV)’s project name changed to 15 & Versus had disappeared from Amazon. Rumors of Versus coming out as Final Fantasy XV and possibly on PS4 instead of PS3 spread like a wild fire.
FF14 did a 180° and resurrected! What a miracle! Instead of the originally 2011 March release on PS3, FF14 got released in August of 2013, simultaneously with a PC version. Fans of Final Fantasy who’ve experienced many sufferings under (former) President Wada Yoichi’s direction begin to have hope in their hearts again.

15. 2013 E3: Re-reveal of FFXV

There were mixed feelings of joy for seeing the beloved project not dead yet and sadness for the Versus logo shattering among fans. The platform had changed from PS3 to PS4 + Xbox, and sadly now Director Nomura has become the official icon of betrayal. At this point, they had only recently announced co-directing of Nomura and Tabata, so with Kingdom Hearts 3 announced, people thought Nomura had too much on his plate, so he’s finished his parts in XV and left the grunt work to Tabata.
But in reality, it seemed more like Nomura pretty much had to make peace with letting his baby go and hand him over to Tabata without any further attachment.
[The moment many gamers and Versus fans all over the world went, I KNEW IT!!]
During the age of Playstation 2, it was hard to imagine that we’d enjoy so many great western games on Playstation 3, like Assassin’s Creed & Skyrim. Multiplatform became the norm for many video games over time, thus even a bigger selection of games than before became available on the PS platform. It was a great outlook for PS4. A lot of fans saw it in a positive light and were glad to know that Versus changing to XV, a main number FF, it will receive all the support and resources they would need, but there were a lot of unhappy fans too. Especially ones who exclusively purchased PS3 just to play Versus 13 and Kingdom Hearts 3. They felt very betrayed. You can argue that it’s stupid to buy a console just to play one or two video games that you're a fan of & wasn’t even out yet, but who would have thought these games would take this long to come out, especially after the director promising release on a particular console?
I mean, I certainly bought a PS4 because I wanted to play FFXV, Kingdom Hearts 3, and VII Remake. I got to play FFXV, but the same thing could very well happen to me with the other two games. Thankfully, I have someone else in the family who also wanted a PS4 and even I occasionally play other games, but I can understand why some fans would have been upset.

16. Release of Lightening Returns

November 21st of 2013, FF 13-3 released as a semi-open world game. Now knowing FFXV has its place & 13’s last installment was released, we could all relax and part with XIII for good. Goodbye Lightning.

17. 2014 November, Release of Playstation 4.

Fans may complain and curse the PS4, but they will still purchase it. LOL Still not a whole lot of information out yet on FFXV at this point.
Looking back, Square Enix was clever not to break all the news at once, afraid of the meltdowns original Versus fans will experience if they learned their long awaited game had a total makeover (or was about to go through one). Instead they released information gradually, therefore, the Versus fans didn’t realize the game was pretty much taken apart and made into a new game. The fans thought the game was just merely introduced to a newer platform and would be released in no time after some graphic touch ups.
2013 trailer was the repeat of the 2006 trailer. What they showed us was just a goal and an illusion. The real thing had only just started….

18. 2015 March, Episode Duscae Demo

Episode Duscae’s download code was included in the copies of Final Fantasy Type-0 (More like, buy the Episode Duscae Demo and we’ll give you a free copy of FF Type-0!).
The graphics were….um….. The texture compared to 2013, 2014 trailer was also…..
…very low quality. BUT, Luminous Engine’s lighting was very realistic thus making the game look amazing. So as promised by the director, fans thought “When they improve the resolution and fix the FPS, etc, then it is bound to improve. If there is one thing FF excels at, it’s the graphics. Yes.”

19. Final Fantasy VII Remake

At the 2015 E3, Final Fantasy VII Remake gets announced.
The absolute PANDEMONIUM and MADNESS! Fans who worried for Director Nomura, thinking he got his Versus baby taken away and kicked out of the house, realized why he left XV. FF7 Remake would justify it completely. But some did wonder if he left XV sadly to work on KH3 then got moved onto FF7 Remake OR he actually gave up his beloved XV for the sake of FF7 Remake.
According to some posts on reddit, the reasoning for Nomura’s departure from XV was because Nomura wanted XV to be a 3-part game and Square Enix wanted it to be just one installment. We don’t know if he started dreaming of sequels from the good old Versus days or after it had become XV, but the Kingdom Hearts fans should know this better than anyone else. This director tends to just keep on expanding the world in his work… This story seemed to have more credibility after he was anointed the director of FF7 Remake and they’ve decided to release it in multiple parts & adding more new content. Of course, this was still a rumor, so there’s no way of confirming it.
However, his reason for leaving XV seemed to be the former case (Left to direct KH3, then also became 7 Remake director instead of giving up XV to direct 7 Remake). These following interview bits support this theory:
[2015 Famitsu interview]:
Kitase: At the Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary Event, I looked back at the Final Fantasy series and I had a chance to think about the future of Final Fantasy.
Nomura: I’m not sure if he was serious, but Hashimoto-san told me “I’m going to retire soon”, so he wanted to take on the project.
So when did FF7 Remake project begin? This is a proof that it at least began before 2014 December PSX Remaster announcement. The 25th anniversary was also in 2012.

[2015 4gamer Interview]: -How did you get the green light?
Nomura: To put it simple, the timing of the relevant members’s abilities to participate is one reason. When it comes to the original FFVII & the members participating in the Remake, I’m the youngest, even though I’m 45. If we didn’t do it now, Kitase-san and Nojima-san are even older than me, so….(laughs). It was “while we have the chance, let’s do it”.
Nomura saying “the timing was right” and “while we have the chance”, doesn’t sound like he gave up his big project for this. This is another good example:

[2015 June Kotaku article]:
According to Nomura, it was Square Enix Exec Shinji Hashimoto who approached Nomura and the original FFVII director Yoshinori Kitase about the new project. Nomura is currently helming Kingdom Hearts III, so it’s surprising that he would take the reins of another high-profile project when the one he’s still developing as of yet has no release date.
It turns out Nomura himself was surprised by the fact that he was directing the FFVII Remake. “As preproduction went along and I offered my opinions on what I thought should be done. Mr. Kitase would ask me how the individual elements should be adjusted in fine detail.” Nomura recalled. “It was very perplexing. Then one day, as I was checking the internal company presentation video it said 'Director Tetsuya Nomura’ at the end.” Apparently this was news to Nomura who had assumed that Kitase would be reclaiming the director’s chair for the remake of his game. “So I called up Mr. Kitase and said, ‘It says that I’m the director for some reason.’ To which he replied, ‘Of course it does.’” Nomura said with a nervous laugh. The “I thought you were going to direct!" "Well I thought YOU were going to direct!” episode was something that happened in the initial stage of the project’s inception and Nomura has stated that he is presently well aware of and well into his position as director.
You can tell Nomura was surprised that he was in charge of such big project while he already had Kingdom Hearts 3 on his plate. It says nothing of FFXV. There was probably some initial discussions of 7 Remake before, but he thought his role was to give his input and assumed the original director was going to be the new director. Then he was shocked when he saw his name as the Director, so I think this would not make sense with the theory that he gave up FFXV to earn the director’s position on FFVII Remake.

20. 2015 June, The Heroine Switches

Our heroine’s face had changed already in a trailer from 2014 TGS and everyone just assumed Stella’s hairstyle had changed. For some reason, after about a full year, they make an official announcement that Stella and Luna were two different people (AKA Sike! Stella doesn’t exist anymore). Maybe they switched the looks first then decided to change the character later, but that doesn't really make sense. Either way, it was a big shock to fans who looked forward to Stella in the game (myself included).
Stella & Luna

21. 2015 August: King Regis’ Plastic Surgery?

Fans experience yet another confusion after 2015 August Gamescom trailer (AKA Dawn trailer)
Is that his grandfather? No? That’s his dad?? Why is he so old even though it’s in the past?? And then they confess that everything about King Regis has also changed other than his position as a king.
Then they also confessed something along the lines of, 'And the story changed completely too! Nojima (the original writer) quit so we hired a total newbie writer, TEEHEE! Oh and Tabata was the only director of XV for a while now. We couldn’t say anything because we were afraid the fans would be too shocked! ;)'
Pretty much, 'This changed too, oh and that? That is no longer in the game...' Their tactics of gradually spitting all the information out worked. The fans thought, 'Fine. I give up. I don't care if it’s Versus or XV, just give us a good game…'

22. Official Release Date: 2016 September 30th!!!

They announced the release date at the UNCOVERED FINAL FANTASY XV Event which took place on March 31st of 2016. [http://i.imgur.com/BryXQDD.jpg Square Enix later goes, lol Just kidding!]
They started taking pre-orders and even released a Platinum Demo for free where you can play a cute chibi Noctis in his dreams. But strategically, this was a bad move because due to the bad frame drop and the confusing concept in the beginning ("Is FFXV about a boy with toy hammer in Alice in Wonderland setting?" Nooo, play it til the end damnit!), the demo, which is supposed to convince your average gamers to buy the game, it discouraged them instead. Thanks to that, a strange phenomenon happened where FF fans had to defend FFXV and tried to spread word about Episode Duscae (A more normal demo) to regular gamers…..
Carbuncle in the Platinum Demo
Episode Duscae was a paid demo, so of course the majority of the players would have been FFXV fans. The Platinum Demo was free and the power of free demo attracted a large number of other gamers. This was going to be the first impression for the general audience and this demographic was who they needed to sell the game to, so it wasn't exactly the best move on their part.

23. Summer of 2016: Kingsglaive Movie

The movie actually did a tremendous amount of marketing for the game, with amazing cast and all. It was out in theaters for about 4 days both in Japan and America, then at the end of the August it was available world wide online. [King Regis from the movie, This is not really a spoiler, but just in case]

24. Season Pass

August 2nd, they announced DLC Season pass.
  1. 1. FFXV Booster Pack
  2. 2. Episode Gladiolus
  3. 3. Holiday Pack
  4. 4. Episode Ignis
  5. 5. Episode Prompto
  6. 6. Expansion Pack
It was kind of baffling to some that the ultimate or the deluxe limited editions had none of these DLCs included. On top of that, in a Famitsu interview on August 26th, they said there may be some DLCs that won’t be included in the Season Pass then they got a lot of backlash. Companies or teams that announce the DLC plans before the actual game even comes out is typically not well received among gamers, so it wasn't the best plan.

25. Delayed to November 29th

Beginning of August, there were delay rumors circulating. I, for one, didn't believe it, because the game took so long to come out already, but then I saw the leaked pictures of the Gamestop poster display directions and realized it could very well be legitimate.
2016 August 15th, FFXV delay is announced by Director Tabata. The reasoning was for the offline players who won’t have access to Day One Patch. Most of fans were not happy that they delayed it after its long time coming, but technically speaking, it was the first delay they had announced (it just felt like the 100th time).

26. Master Version Gameplay Graphic Nerf

Since no one believed the actual delay excuse, the real reason for delay got implicated it with the then rumored Sony’s Neo (now PS4 Pro) release. Then 2016 August 18th to 21st, Gamescom showed master version gameplay, and the horrible graphics shut all the fans up blaming Neo.
No one mentioned Neo afterwards (lol). Everyone understood why it wasn’t ready for release yet and some even began to think two months delay wasn't long enough to polish that.
But the strange thing was that there were some graphics difference between the Gamescom demonstration and the first 50 minute gameplay SE released on the internet, even though they’re supposed to be the same Master Version. Some fans suspected a conspiracy theory that they turned off some light settings on purpose when filming it to make it look extra crappy to put a stop on the Neo rumors. They mixed footages from Xbox One and PS4 and also seemed to have chosen bad weather footages for the PS4 ones. This is the first time where it seemed like the team decided to pick the worst possible footages rather than picking the best to showcase… That conspiracy theory sounds kind of legit all of the sudden.

27. 2016 September 8th, PS4 Pro Announced

The rumored 4.5 generation version of Neo got announced under the name of PS4 Pro with a release date of November 10th.
The previously shocked gamers from seeing the shitty Master Version went straight back to blaming the Playstation Pro for the delay. However, after seeing the graphics for FFXV on PS4 Pro, all gamers' eyes nearly popped out.
It was beautiful, the colors, the lighting, the texture… Even the foliages look great! Yaaaas, this is what Final Fantasy is about, baby!
And of course, as always, some fans were angry. 'I bought PS3 because of Versus, but that didn't happen. Then I bought PS4 for Versus, but now I have to get the Pro?! How many consoles do I have to buy for this one game! You con-artists!!'
Tabta’s image of trustworthy and faithful Director after years of steady communications through Active Time Reports and etc, crumbles and everyone tells him not to lie anymore when it comes to PS Pro related topics.
While the limited editions pre-orders were available since the UNCOVERED event in March, there were no news on bundles. Every time Tabata was asked about it, he said they'd like to produce a bundle but they were under negotiations with Sony. Perhaps they couldn't come to an agreement easily.
Realistically, if you were a third party, which would you rather produce a bundle with? A console that has close to 50 million units world wide or a console with zero market share. From Sony’s point of view, they had a new console coming out and they wanted to see the benefits from a new Final Fantasy number. PS Slim gets released first, which makes the previously said 50 million units world wide PS4 production to slow down and maybe to prepare for discontinuation. Then unexpectedly, there wasn’t much of a price difference between Pro and Slim. So you’d think, there isn't much merit to produce a bundle with PS slim. But NOPE.

28. 2016 September TGS Luna Edition Announcement

Final Fantasy XV Slim Edition! It’s Luna, so it’s a…moon.
Fans thought, they are bound to release a Pro bundle…There has to be a Noctis edition. People swore by it. But at the Tokyo Game Show, Director Tabata assured that there weren’t any plans for a Pro bundle.
To be honest, unless you have a 4K TV, there probably isn’t much point to getting these (You won't reach this level of graphics unless you have a HDR10 TV). Although when it comes to PS4 Pro, it depends on how much the picture changes for a regular FHD TV screen.
Some fans lost their shit thinking, Square Enix could have trashed the graphics of the regular edition of the game to boost PS4 Pro sales. What? What are you thinking? What kind of benefit would they get out of a circumstance like that? You can believe in such scenario, but not whether or not that gorgeous PS4 Pro gameplay video was touched up?
Same with the 2006 & 2013 trailer, this is something they've done before. They didn’t say anything about “This is the real gameplay footage on the PS4 Pro!” They render the game on high end PCs, so when they put the video together, they could have just matched the specs settings to what it would be like on PS4 Pro instead of recording it on the real thing. But Tabata did promise that until the release date, they’re going to strive for optimization of the regular edition.

29. 2016 October Paris Game Week

At the PGW at the end of October, Square Enix announced Final Fantasy XV has gone gold!
They also debuted a new short movie/trailer called Omen, which was beautifully CGI'd. This particular trailer really ignited the fire for the last stretch to the game for many fans (ALL ABOARD THE HYPE TRAIN CHOO CHOO).

30. 2016 November 29th Final Fantasy XV Released

Japanese Cover & North American Cover
It has arrived. The reviews are quite mixed, the general consensus seemed to be 'it was messy and epic at the same time'. Like I've mentioned before, the game had been changed a lot and gone through a lot of directional changes, so not a lot from the Versus era remained and some aspects of the game seemed muddled in the process. I've seen a lot of people that genuinely enjoyed the game, a lot of fans who were unhappy with how it was executed (mostly with the story telling), and a lot of fans who had mixed feelings of both & disappointed at how close it was to being a masterpiece.
I boarded this hype train because of Versus, and while I really loved the game (with my share of confusion and criticisms), a part of me do wonder what FF Versus XIII would have been like. But the game is here as FFXV and I have to accept the fact that Versus has been long gone.
Even though it's a very different game than what I had wanted, I'm just happy the game made it out to this world. And I appreciate Business Divison 2's hard work in it, I genuinely believe they did their best with what was given to them and the limitations they faced (I hear they were under contract to release the game within 2016 even though they needed another 6 months at least, along with other contracts/constraints). We can only judge based on what we got, therefore we will never know if Versus XIII was going to be any good (Like, I love Nomura but he can be wacky). There is no way of telling just because the trailers and the premise looked cool. And there may be aspects of the game from Tabata's input that we all enjoy but wouldn't have existed in the Nomura's version. Could it have been better? Absolutely. Did I want to see what Versus would have been like? Yeah. But there is no use in getting flustered over what already happened. Especially because Versus had been gone for years. So, time to move forward.
If you have made it to the end of this long post, I give you my sincere thanks.

Dear Versus fans from the beginning, it's been a long time coming. I really hope you enjoyed the game. I sure as hell did. Happy Holidays.
