Hello in the past month I’ve come across classical music. I’ve discovered no other music makes me feel the way classical does, just this pure feeling of euphoria comes over me. I’ve only listened to the major stuff Mozart( my favorite being his in g minor) the Goldberg variation bach all that jazz however I really want to get into classical now. I have no idea where to start tho I know I want to listen to Beethoven and some other names that that I may have not heard of other then the big 3 or 4. Thank you
Hello all! I’m a writer, and have been working on my latest project for a few months now. Bach’s Goldberg Variations are so important to the text (for reasons I won’t share because it’d be too long to explain, but I’d love to share in a private message) and I was wondering if there are any score studies out that there will explain (for me, someone who knows virtually nothing about music theory) that structure behind each variation and their styles etc. I already own a copy of Peter Williams Bach: The Goldberg Variations published by Cambridge Music Handbooks, but it doesn’t really go too into depth on the structure. If this bit of info helps, I’m looking to mimic the structure of GV in a novel, so for instance if the variation I’m mimicking is a canon, then I’d have to find a way to have the writing match characteristics of a canon. Anything is helpful, thank you!
