Batman themed Werewolf. Have any ideas?

I've been tasked with creating a Batman-themed Werewolf for a close friend's baby shower. I'll be making it out of poker chips in case you're curious.
What roles, characters, and abilities can you think of to make it feel super thematic? I'd like to make a bunch of different roles so they can keep it for the future and mix and match the roles like you can with Ultimate Werewolf (which some of these roles are cribbed from).
Here's what I was thinking so far in terms of characters/roles and a few unique special abilities. Though I love Batman, my Bat knowledge is scattered at best, so any feedback would be awesome.
Here are some characters I'd love to include with special abilities. Any ideas would be great! If all else fails, I may just make them different flavors of Werewolves or Villagers.
Thanks in advance boardgames!

[Inception] The ending explained and what it means for Cobb.

TL/DR at the bottom.

I was reading u/bioscifiuniverse theory about Inception and how Saito handles Cobbs totem (the spinning top) early in the movie and how this means Saito could have faked the ending and manipulated Cobb.
The theory that Cobbs totem is actually his wedding ring is pointed out by u/Adoraflames (here) but that is questioned by u/bioscifiuniverse (here), who points out that he uses the spinning totem even when panicking by himself.

I was trying to gel these altogether in my head and this got me thinking about totems in general. I realised that Mal's/Cobb's spinning top totem is actually kind of terrible for a totem. Look at the other totems in movie:
Ariadnes Bishop piece - just need to knock it over to see if it falls correctly.
Arthers Dice - just need a quick roll to see if they give the correct results.
Eames Poker Chips - Not really explained in movie how they work, but presumable they have a particular and unusual weight and feel.
Cobb's Wedding Ring - Either he has it on or he doesn't. Also probably has a particular feel on his finger, so if someone else is smart enough to have him wear it in a dream they control, they won't be able to match it's feel.

What do these have in common - they all are very quick tests for if they are in a dream, a second or two or maybe even instantaneous. What is different about Mal's totem? Her spinning top is extremely slow, compared to them. A decent spin could have it going for 10-15 seconds or more before wobbling or falling.
This is very dangerous for Cobb, who at the start of movie is entering dreams for illegal purposes. Time would usually be of the essence in such cases. And don't forget the torturous tension he would be putting himself through. In one scene he is holding gun next to his head waiting for the top to stop, imagine how it must feel to be preparing to shoot yourself in the head, wondering if you had given the totem enough time to wobble or not. Why put himself through that?
Because he feels guilty for what happened to Mal. Well that is pretty obvious. So what does this mean for the ending and for Cobb? At the climax of the movie he confronts dream Mal, openly accepts that her death was his fault and that dream Mal is not real. He can then move on.
The next time he uses a totem he starts spinning Mal's totem, but leaves it to go to his kids. Has he decided he doesn't care if he is in a dream anymore and just wants to see his kids (one interpretation I've read)? No, he has realised that he does not feel the same guilt anymore over what happened to Mal and so does not have to rely on her inefficient totem. He goes back to his own, pretty much instantaneous, totem. He isn't wearing his wedding wing, therefore he is in the real world.

TL/DR:
Cobb uses Mal's slow and inefficient spinning totem out of guilt. After having confronting that guilt (dream Mal) at the climax of the movie, he starts to use the spinning top, but realises he doesn't need to torture himself and goes back to using his quicker and more efficient totem - his wedding wing. Cobb knows he is in the real world at the end of the movie and can now move past his grief over causing his wife's death.

League and Poker - learning to lose

I want to preface this post by saying I’m a complete noob at league. I’m 25 and just started playing in the past few months and am currently bronze. However, I’ve been playing poker for years and know a thing or 2 about losing ‘winnable’ situations.
I saw a post earlier today asking how to improve when being up 5+ kills, 50cs, first tower, etc. etc. If you’re that far ahead, you’re going to win more often then not. To quantify, probably 70,80%+ of the time. But 100% of the time? Never. Nothing you do in league will guarantee a win until a team surrenders or the nexus is destroyed.
So how does this correlate to poker? In poker you’re constantly looking to get your money in ahead/ as a favorite. A dream situation for poker players is getting pocket aces- and piling in money as quickly as possible. Worst case scenario you’re a 78% favorite to win before the flop. Other situations you’re an even bigger favorite- sometimes 85/90/98% favorite before the river (the last card that runs out on the board). However, any good player knows that nothing is guaranteed. You can play a hand perfect- get your stack of chips in as a massive favorite- and still lose.
Combining these 2 thoughts we see what pro players in both games do; and that’s put themselves in the best possible situations and accept the results.
Recognizing high points in losses and low points in wins. Taking solace knowing you played a situation near perfectly and got unlucky or being able to self- critique are valuable tools in constantly improving. Remember that for every game you’re an 80% favorite to win and lose, there will probably be an identical situation where you’re getting smacked with a 80% chance to lose- yet somehow clutch it out or get carried to win.
All we can do when playing is our best- and if you play better then your opponent you’ll win more often then not.

After 2 years, I've finally launched Deadly Desserts! You guys have been an awesome help and I'd love to give back to this community. I tested with over 150 people before launching. Here is a post detailing my process prototyping, testing, and iterating the game.
Deadly Desserts game
Hey everyone, several days ago I posted asking whether people would find value in my detailed process developing and testing Deadly Desserts and it seems like there’s some appetite. I’ve found this community incredibly valuable and would like to give back by hopefully helping some of you.
I’ll be focusing on game design as that’s this subreddit’s focus. Just one point on publishing as it relates to design: if you plan on launching on the website that rhymes with TrickFarter (trying to get past auto-mod), your game design should ideally be expandable so that you can offer meaningful campaign exclusives.

Background
Around 2 years ago, some friends introduced me to Hearts, a classic card game. It seemed pretty basic during my first playthroughs. After playing more and adding my own rules, I loved how strategic this simple game was. Surprisingly, Hearts had been around 100+ years, yet very few people I knew had played it. I wanted to play Hearts with more people, but they kept losing interest. The problems I ran into were people being turned off by playing cards and the new player experience being unwelcoming. I wanted to fix these problems so that I could play this game more. Here are some of the biggest problems and how I solved them:
  • Turned off by playing cards - solved with food-themed cards and game
  • Memorizing card point values - solved by printing points on cards and having table on player aides
  • Adding points on paper and not knowing how many someone else has - solved with food-themed health tokens
  • Limited to 3-4 players - solved:
    • 2 players - created new mechanic of playing 2 cards each, 1 at a time
    • 5 players - used 60-card decks to normalize hand size and game pacing
    • 6-10 players - added a 2nd deck and cancellation rules
  • Additional cards to double effects, scoring changes, and other changes related more to strategy and game pacing

Feedback loop
When I first started, I approached game development as a linear process. I realize now that it’s a continuous loop. The three steps I continuously cycled through are:
  • Testing - playing with people and measuring success of changes
  • Synthesizing - analyzing testing feedback and deciding changes for next iteration
  • Iterating - implementing changes based on feedback

Testing
I tested with 150+ people before launching Deadly Desserts. Although the entire game development process is a continuous loop, I took a fairly linear approach as to who I tested with. I’d loosely recommend you use the following playtester order. I didn’t strictly follow this recipe because sometimes the opportunity presented itself to test with certain people.
Myself
I’d say 50% of implemented feedback came from self-testing. I genuinely had a blast with it, too. Here are the main reasons I recommend starting with self-testing:
  • Fastest feedback cycle and iterations
  • Catch low-hanging fruit changes before using valuable testing time
  • The game needs to be fun for me before it’s fun for anyone else
As an example, I tested a 5-player game myself. I used a typical 52-card deck, removed 2 cards, and dealt 10 cards to each player. I felt annoyed when a player started with no cards of a certain suit (e.g. no hearts in starting hand). I also didn’t like the pacing, as I was used to 13-card hands. I did math and found that 12 card hands (60-card deck) decreased the probability of no cards of a certain suit from 16% to 8%. This was a problem I didn’t have to spend valuable playtests to figure it out.
Another example, I wanted to figure out how to play with 6+ people and found this bgg thread. It adds a 2nd deck and a new rule in which copies cancel one another out. I tested it and was simmering with how fun the cancellation mechanic was. It created a new strategy where I could lead a hand with an undesirable card, hoping the other person with said card would play theirs and cancel both of ours out. I tested out different hand sizes myself, so I could focus playtests on more impactful gameplay attributes.
The best part of self-testing is you’ll always be available during a pandemic!

Board game developers
I started testing at board game dev meetups after fixing what I could through self-testing. I recommend testing with board game devs 2nd because:
  • Board game devs exposed to many mechanics and will have great feedback
  • Useful and fun learning opportunity from people who have launched board games
  • Learn how to give and receive valuable feedback before testing with others
My first tests didn’t yield much feedback and I couldn’t figure out why. When testing another dev’s game, I noticed he received much more feedback than I do. Whenever I or the testers (other game devs) gave feedback, the game dev simply wrote it down. I wondered why he didn’t respond to any of our comments and finally realized that feedback isn’t meant to yield rebuttals. During my own playtests, I kept on responding to feedback, trying to explain things. Other people saw this and likely were dissuaded from contributing. I learned that feedback is feedback - don’t refute or comment on it, just write it down and ask for clarification if necessary.
I remember during a particular playtest, me and other testers glazed a game dev with a wide variety of feedback. He felt overwhelmed and wasn’t sure how to proceed. A tester asked what he changed from the previous iteration. The game dev said that in his previous iteration, all players met their win conditions at similar time-frames, despite all of the decisions made to get there. Essentially, he didn’t want the game to be as luck-based. Providing valuable feedback was much easier when focusing on a particular goal. Here’s what I learned:
  • The best way to learn how to receive valuable feedback is to learn how to give valuable feedback
  • Define goals for playtests, primarily how well the new iteration’s changes produce the intended outcome
  • Testers won’t know what I’m testing for unless I tell them
I tried to test others’ games before asking them to test mine. I also noticed that people tried much harder to provide valuable feedback to me after I had to them. It’s in your best interest, and is more life-fulfilling, to help others before asking for help.
The meetup I used to go to is currently frozen, but hopefully there are virtual meetups out there. You can also try a gaming simulator. This subreddit is also a great place to find other board game devs!

Friends and family
Here’s why I recommend testing with friends and family 3rd:
  • Start testing game’s entertainment value with a broader audience (game devs are more hardcore)
  • Loved ones are much more collaborative than strangers
  • Fine tune game before testing with strangers
I conducted my first blind test with family, where I asked them to read the instructions themselves and play while I quietly observed. I noticed their feedback was more focused on making the game fun, whereas game devs' focused on competitiveness.
Once when visiting my parents, my mom wanted to play Deadly Desserts and I told her that I hadn’t figured out 2-player rules. Since she’s the best mom ever, she spent several hours with me experimenting with different ideas, until we came up with the 2-player variant that’s in the current game. Thanks mom!

Strangers
This was the most important test group because these are the people I would eventually want to buy my game. They didn’t know me and didn’t have sympathy from being a fellow game dev. They had no reason to care about my feelings and consequently gave critically honest feedback.
One of my biggest challenges throughout this project was finding playtesters. I didn’t want to pay and didn’t have a big following. Here were my main sources for testing with strangers:
  • Sat outside high-traffic areas (e.g. Peet’s Coffee) and offered free cupcakes or cookies to playtest
  • Board game cafes
  • Other board game devs’ game nights
Other game devs said they tested with dozens a day at board game conventions. I didn’t try it because I thought Deadly Desserts would be too light for a convention, but in hindsight it’s worth a try before writing off. Either way, your game is hopefully light enough to do what I did outside of coffee shops, or heavy enough to test at board game conventions. Both of which are sadly not too feasible during a pandemic.

Synthesizing
My general approach to synthesizing feedback was:
  1. Filter feedback for which problems need to be solved
  2. Solve problems
  3. Self-test before iterating game
I found it imperative define my game’s value proposition. One of my biggest challenges was figuring out how to sift through feedback. I pushed the game in many different directions by addressing every comment. Without a value proposition, I had no structure to decide which changes to implement and how to measure success of said changes.
Board games differ from other businesses in that they provide entertainment, rather than solve problems. Consequently, it’s not as obvious as to how to measure progress for a board game.
  • Let’s say we’re trying to solve the problem of water bottles not keeping water cold
  • Our value proposition, the reason why people would buy our bottle, is fluid staying cold
  • This can easily be measured by comparing water temperature in our bottle vs Bottle X after a certain time period
  • Let’s say a customer thinks the bottle isn’t stylish and we find a stylish material that reduces insulation by 25%
  • Since we have a clearly defined value proposition, it’s obvious that this feedback would diminish it’s intended value
One of the most common pieces of feedback I received was people wanting more complexity. I spent a lot of time going back and forth between complicating and simplifying the game. After enough noodling around, I remembered that I originally sought out to be able to play my version of Hearts with more people. After defining my value proposition, I stopped bouncing around and was able to push the game in a certain direction.

Iterating
Team
In the past, I had launched a product that I had paid a contractor to develop. I had many issues with deadlines and quality because the contractor wasn’t tied to the product how I was. It also wasn’t as fun because the relationship felt too professional. For Deadly Desserts, I wanted teammates instead of contractors. I recruited a designer and animator as equity partners. Working with teammates is boat loads more fun than working with a contractor.
Implementing
I spent a ton of time theorizing how much fun certain changes may or may not be. I made progress faster by iterating and testing quickly, rather than spending too much time planning.
Prototyping
I tried not to spend capital unless I needed to, both financially and temporally. My first prototype was index cards and poker chips. Once the card designs were more finalized, I used Print & Play to create more legit-looking prototypes. Get creative and spend only on what you need. In my case, card design was a huge value proposition, so I wanted to test it. Over time, I also improved at not asking my teammates to create something until I had it finalized in my head and self-tested.

End
Thanks for reading and hope this helps someone. At the end of the day, don’t forget that you’re creating something that brings fun to peoples’ lives. Have fun yourself and enjoy the process. Here’s Deadly Desserts if you’re interested in checking it out. Feel free to ask me anything. I’m also happy to test a few games for people.
tl;dr: define a value proposition, test, synthesize, iterate, nice

How to store and carry bullion stack?

Good day ladies and gents. I was wondering how do you carry your store/carry your stack? I'm talking about carrying it on a plane; relocating in the future etc.
I saw a couple of pelican cases on here, but just curious on other storage/carry ideas. I was thinking of getting a poker chips briefcase or John Wick style - what do you guys think?

For the majority of these offers you want to play blackjack following the chart found here
Any blackjack game will do, look for a normal version of the game at the site you are playing on and make sure it is a non live game as the hand sizes will be lower.
When playing blackjack there will often be more than one spot that you can bet on, allowing the player to bet more than one hand at a time, Its important to only bet on one spot at a time as it reduces the variance of the game and will ensure you get the maximum return possible from the game, stick to £1 hand sizes when playing and dont be tempted to bet larger amounts as you will be getting a nice amount of cashback from every offer
Through playing blackjack this way the player will get a return of around 98%, meaning for every £100 staked you will lose around £2. If you make a loss on a casino site after completing the required wagering amount, withdraw your remaining balance, don't chase loses as the cashback will make up for loses and give you a profit in most cases.
All offers are updated fairly regularly, make sure to check the terms for each offer as information in this post may become outdated. Also check for other offers every now and then as new casinos are added!

A Mental Hand History - Learning to Fold

Hey all, bit of a long post here. I'm doing a little mental hand history as per the recommendation of Jared Tendler in his book The Mental Game of Poker. The idea is to improve a flaw in my game, in this case overcalling river spots. Thought I'd share my process as it will help me to do so, and maybe others. If not, I don't think I'm doing any harm. If you have comments, corrections, additions, I'm interested to hear them as always.
I start by naming the problem. Then questioning what mental reasoning/emotional ties create that problem. Then for each of those, I work out the flawed logic underpinning it. Finally, I create a few key statements to refer back to. This time I really dug deep, because I think the problem merited it. So without further ado..
The problem:
I call with hands I know I should fold on the river against opponents who are unlikely to be bluffing.
The reasons:
1) I am attached to the strength of my hand.
-> Hand strength is relative to all five board cards and the opponent's range. It changes with every street, and with every action by the opponent. Simple example: TT starts as a relatively strong hand, but changes in relative strength the moment someone cold 4bets. More complex example: AsJh on board Ac 3c 9s 5c 8d. Villain checks turn and overbets river. My hand is relatively strong when he checks, but when he overbets, it's strength suddenly polarizes.
2) I am attached to the size of the pot, the bigger the pot, the harder the fold.
-> The size of the pot has no bearing on whether or not I have odds to call, the decision should be based on pot odds and the information I have available. If anything, the relative strength of a Villain's hand increases with their bet size and the size of the pot. Even though this shouldn't be case, it generally IS.
3) I want to see the opponents cards to see if I was right/wrong
-> Being "right" in Poker is not about knowing exactly which two cards an opponent is holding. It's about knowing what their entire range is, and whether or not you had odds to call. Calling and seeing a hand shows you one tiny part of their range, and doesn't tell you whether you were right or wrong to call.
4) I want to see my opponents cards because I would rather lose and know, than never know at all
-> That's the game ;) But seriously, we can find another way to "know", which is to see their aggression on various streets using the HUD, and eventually gather enough information to make those calls when it makes sense to do so. Also, we already know! The pool underbluffs, and we can determine their range on that basis. The range is what we (should) care about, not whether they have or don't have a specific part of their range.
5) I don't like the feeling of being bluffed
-> No one does! However, opponents are actually unlikely to be bluffing. If they are bluffing and I fold a better hand, that's credit to their ability and is part of the game. I am only being exploited if I am being bluffed more often than I am being value bet. I am exploiting the opponent by overfolding, and denying them value. When they exploit that fact and begin bluffing huge pots, I can think logically about counter adjusting if it makes sense to do is. At the moment it is far me likely I am being targeted/exploited for overcalling, and opponents may even be betting larger sizes because they know I am likely to call!
6) I feel frustrated that I got so far into a hand with something marginal, and don't want to cut my losses
-> Betting or calling with marginal hands is done because they have enough equity or future fold equity to do so. That doesn't mean their equity or fold equity is always going to materialize. They should only materialize a certain percentage of the time, probably less often than I believe. Both of those types of equity can also change in an instant.
7) My thought process is halted by the emotionally charged nature of big pots
-> This relates to Unconscious Competence. I haven't practiced enough hand reading to be able to do it even when I am under stress, meaning it is not yet an Unconscious Competence. Meaning: More study needed off-felt for river decisions especially.
8) "Its only x amount more to call, and I can win the whole pot!" - thinking this would somehow avoid losing what I have already put in
-> Money/chips were put in the pot as a bet on equity. The second that bet is made, that money is gone and a new round of betting takes place. The decision is equity vs. pot odds, nothing else. Also.. in a vaccuum, folding is actually a 0EV decision. No matter how many times I catch someone bluffing, the fact of doing so may have been -EV anyway.
9) I think the opponent will overbet as a bluff because I do that myself
-> Everyone thinks differently. Part of the skill of Poker is using empathy to understand the thought process of other players. Underbluffing makes a lot of sense. Not everyone is rolled properly. Most people don't hedge their bets on an opponent folding to a large sizing when they have nothing, especially when they been burnt before by opponents who station them with 3rd pair! It is very hard to make big bets as a bluff that are +EV in the long run but feel terrible the times they are called. Most people are not capable of doing it even if they know it is correct. Its possible thats the reason they are playing the stakes they are and haven't moved up.

Short term: Logic injections
Hand strength changes with each action.
Decisions should be made using odds vs equity.
We are interested in range, not specific hands.
You're not being bluffed, you're being exploited for value.
Is it scary to bluff for this player on this board?
Long term:
Study more river spots to make decisions and hand reading an Unconscious Competence.
Recognize which of these emotions/thought processes are occurring every time I'm in a hand and make a bad call on the river. Write them down after the hand.
Anticipate that a stressful river decision may be approaching every time I reach the turn.

Fallout 3 is better than Fallout New Vegas

I know ill face some heat but here is my maybe not so hot/ hot take.
Fallout 3 is better than Fallout New Vegas for one big reason: Atmosphere
In Fallout 3, each place you visit seems to be struggling to survive. Even places like Rivet City and Megaton. the world seems stressed and in a desperate, Doomer like state, struggle to survive,
For instance, Caps, the currency of the new American wasteland is hard to come by. Having over a few thousand caps in Fallout 3 is considered a lot of money. I remember getting excited when I actively saved over 4k caps. The real currency of the wastes is what you can trade. Not junk ( which kudos to Fallout 4 for making junk a viable commodity outside of trading for money, taking up weight, or making a sub par weapon) Primarily bullets, no weight, valuable to trade and use in battle. Kind of like the Metro series.
When it comes to leaving the safety of civilization in Fallout 3, you are greeted with the horrors of the wastes. Will it be Raiders, Super Mutants, Death Claws, Mirelurks, Feral Ghouls, or other monstrosities that roam the land? And that's only if you don't Piss someone off by being good or evil.
When you step out side of the gates to a city, and you look at the map. you see nothing. the world looks dead. the only signs of life are the spiritic gunfire of forces struggling to find their next meal. even the super mutants are putting up defenses and fighting to make it day to day. nothing feels safe in fallout 3, the good guys of the capital wasteland are few. the brotherhood is basically the only safe dudes. besides the outcasts, and other such groups.
In Rivet City, you might feel safe, or even megaton, or Tenpenny Tower. But inside you feel a great since of distrust for people. people who act friendly seem untrustworthy. Why should they be so friendly? Its a dog eat dog world. There are places even in the Capital Wasteland that are worse than it. take the Dunwitch building for example, enough said if you have been there. Fallout 4 tried to recreate the place but it came across as bad fan fic than the existential dread that that damn building makes you feel.

This is all in contrast to Fallout New Vegas, Vegas gets a lot of things right. The lore and NPCs related to fallout 1 and 2 are perfect. the writing for Characters and lore background is great too. Its one of the few videogames where the "villian" I.E Ceaser, had a backstory that made since and had a logical tale that was in many ways relatable, although with a dark outcome. Its great playing through the game and seeing you actions have consequences, seeing the world change around you. but then that is the first thing. It doesn't really,
In Vegas, the land will try to tell you that it will "sallow you up" or that its a horrible Quagmire of violence. but... its not. The game's main quest forces you down a path around the whole map that leads you too Vegas itself. you cant realistically just go to Vegas right off the bat. head north and you run into Cazador hell fest with high level bandits and raiders to boot. head east and its radscorpians, deathclaws, and powdergangers ( your first easy enemies). if you follow the path south they set out for you, you will be able to navigate the Mojave with little trouble. most threats can be handled easily. if you deicide to go wild and head west you will find A FUCKING MOUTAIN RANGE THAT BLOCKS 1/3 OF THE MAP.
When it comes to factions, New Vegas does great at diversity but most of your threating evil factions are hardly a threat to you the player. for example, the Legion prides itself in burning down villages and towns and enslaving any assholes they find wondering the trade routes. Except you that is. As a level 1 nobody, you can just stroll on though legion camps and NCR outposts, the Great khans camp, without so much as a threat! all you will get is. "Profligate!!!" or god forbid "Patrolling the Mojave almost makes me wish for a nuclear winter". In fallout 3, you cant really enter a single town or city without someone threating to shoot you for showing up or having to bribe your way into a place. Fallout new Vegas? the biggest hurdle? " Submit to a credit check"
Which goes into another issue, money, there is so much god damn money in fallout new Vegas you wont know what to do with it. 2000 caps? bitch please, I had that before I got to Novac. Fallout new Vegas has so much money that they needed two more currencies to manage it all. three if you count poker chips.
Fallout new Vegas feels like its trying to be hardcore but failing, the Lore 10/10, NPC world building and backstories 10/10, in game dealing with these things 4/10. Its hard to take the legion seriously when one charges you with his edge lord Romophile attitude with a manchette in hand while you are holding a belt feed machine gun. threats of slavery are all to real until you realize that the romanos wont try it on you, just look at you and go "Profligate".
And what's with the Anti establishment stance on the NCR. Dudes are literally like we will give you trade, protection, and jobs if you let us in. and people are like "BUT TAXES MMEEHHHH" Bitch, in the capital wasteland, MFs are happy to find some clean water, let alone a whole ass army that wont enslave them or kill them outright. (sorry Muties)

TLDR: Fallout 3 presences a better grim struggle for survival that is felt in the lore and in the game play. Fallout New Vegas's map is linear, NPCs are not threating are are basically try hards. the people of the Mojave are ungrateful.
Edit/futher development: has a general counter argument I've seen posted a lot in the replies is that NV is more a out organizing and managing a War and deciding who lives and dies and all that stuff, and it's not about the day to day struggle to survive...if that's the case, then why not play Hearts of Iron 4 mod Old World Blues? In that game you literally control a country and can establish laws do all the stuff in depth that I keep seeing posted on here... also highly recommend getting the Enclave Reborn mod with it. Its great.
Edit 2: I've also noticed a lot of people defend NV by saying " its different than the others a d it's still good" fair point, I can't argue that really, the same can be said for each fallout game. "Except 3. 3 bad and it's not a real fallout game, play metro if you want darkness". Really? That's the counter? What passes NV doesnt pass 3? Hmmmmmmmm.....

CMV: Events such as Esports, chess, and poker should not be classified as sports, but are at the very most unconventional sports, which is to say competitions.

Disclaimer: Before I start, I am not demeaning the efforts of top competitors. Their sheer commitments to become masters are more than apparent through their inclusion of eating healthy, exercising, and countless hours of game study. It indeed is a respectable commitment. This will not be a subjective look at this topic like most of the debates are. As an ex-gamer, I do have a personal bias towards chess to tell the truth. When first drafting this argument, I actually tried to formulate why chess is a sport and video games weren't. Then I realised that they both weren't and shouldn't be considered as conventional. Do I still think most people say video games are sports to justify their gaming addiction? Yes. Do I think it's unfair for Esports to be compared as equal to Basketball? Absolutely. However, like I said, this is an objective comparison of the ever expanding world of competitive entertainment. And, as the rules say, I am open to discussion about changes
There are two popular definitions for "sport" that have been used for this topic. The first one from is from dictionary.com:
an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature
Using this definition, we can automatically draw the line. Many pro-Esports people in this topic use chess as an comparison, saying if chess is a sport by this definition, then competitive video games can also be considered as one. However, while it does note that it can involve physical prowess or skill, neither activity is athletic by definition, which means physically strong, fit, and active. A Esports player may take up an exercise program to better their play, but it does not make them an athlete. It is not required for a person to be athletic to compete in Esports, chess or poker. The participants can not be called athletes, because the activity is not athletic. Therefore, by the definition found on dictionary.com, the argument that these activities can be considered sports is over.
So now, we can move to the more ambiguous definition found in Oxford dictionary, which identifies a sport:
an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or a team competes against another or others for entertainment
So here, there is room for argument. Exertion simply means effort, so by this definition an activity such as Esports can be considered sport or sport like. After all, the word comes from disport which means in the sense of recreation or entertainment. However, this does not mean that they should be considered as conventional sports at all, far from it. Conventional sports are athletic, and have these identical seven attributes to be considered as such.
These are what all athletic sports have in common, and can hold the present definition of a common or "regular" sport. Nonetheless, the Esports, chess and even bizarre activities such as dog boarding and outhouse racing meet many requirements on this list. I will refer to these as unconventional sports, even though chess and competitive video games are recognised for their sports like properties by the International Olympic Committee. They both get really close to qualifying as Olympic Sports, while those are different from sports played annually. According these overall requirements to be an athletic and annual sport, these fall closer to the definition of competition, which is the state or activity of competing. Additionally, this category can be split even further between physical competitions, or unconventional sports, and virtual competitions, or virtual sports.
Physical competitions, such as chess and poker, meet six out of seven of the requirements above. Chess is notorious for its requirement of mental prowess, not unlike athletic sports are for their brute physicality. Physical exertion is present by moving the pieces or chips, and take place in a tangible environment where players can touch and interact physically with what they are doing. The objective for a chess player is to trap the king with his or her pieces, called checkmate. There is a definite competitive aspect, and self sustaining competition is conspicuous. Fédération Internationale des Échecs (FIDE), or the World Chess Federation, has over 170,00 active members, with the United States Chess Federation holding about 93,000. Chess.com alone has over 20,000,000 registered users. Poker has a huge following and world championships occurring annually since 2004. The place it falls short is the lack of consistent or common injury of the players. The risks of athleticism are generally associated with conventional sports. The thing that ties these unconventional sports together is the presence of a physical and tangible environment during play.
Virtual competitions, namely Esports, but also online versions of trading card games and E-chess, meet five out of seven qualities that conventional sports have. They do indeed include a great deal of mental concentration, prowess and overall development. Video games, thanks to a release of dopamine, do have mentally relieving benefits that are best showcased when played in moderation. Physical exertion of pressing keys or buttons on a controller is present as well. Physical and mental integration shown in top level events are astounding, with muscle memories and reaction times that are impressive to say the least. Competitive gaming is most known for its explosive popularity and ever expanding competition. Even twelve year olds are able to compete in these events. This is mostly due to video games being, let's face it, extremely entertaining to watch and play. Nonetheless, it does not by any means have a consistent injuring possibility, except for maybe a few cases of carpal tunnel here and there. What makes it set apart from the other unconventional sport is that it's strictly virtual. Gamers can not physically interact with the game they are playing. Virtual reality and the use of controllers is still not tangible. They experience only a fabricated world. And, in a gamer's mind, are they pressing buttons on a controller or are they playing a game? The use of controllers act as a medium of communication to the virtual world they are interacting with. Physically, competitive gamers have no connection with video games.
Reiterating the beginning clarification, I do not demean unconventional sports, whether they are virtual competitions or physical. Many get offended at the generalising of their favourite competitive activity as a competition, which is why I used the word unconventional. Also note that the dedication to these unconventional sports can be as demanding as some physical sports are. Chess can be a lifetime commitment for many, and as I can confirm, many, many, many hours are committed to studying tatics and theory of the openings. In the same way, taking the relatively new fighting game Smash Brothers Ultimate as an example, many hours are devoted by top players into studying match-ups, labbing true combos with their main character, and studying frames data and the interaction between them in detail.
The last thing I will address is the overall stereotypical attitude towards these unconventional sports. Many regard chess as a game for hopeless nerds, competitive video games for unemployed delinquents, and poker for financially unstable people. I won't deny these stereotypes as wrong, but as they're incomplete. Yes there have been World Chess champions that died penniless, and yes some Esports players are hot for a season and just vanish and are back to regular jobs. However, they don't consider the different, more positive aspects of these events. How excited these communities get over tournaments and announcements. The connections that are shared, the relationships that are built. How there is a general hype in these communities, and most importantly, how people's life stories are changed for ever. It is really easy for society to avert their attention from these moments. But the one thing to remember that everyone possesses on the Earth, and is born with, is a choice. A choice to live life how they please. Yes there will be consequences for every action, but no one can judge another individual's choices. Yes, society loves pointing fingers, but in reality, we are just as flawed as the people we condemn. It's just not right to tell a kid that they'll never make it in the NBA, NFL or whatever. And it is especially wrong to force it upon a person who dreams of becoming a competitive gamer that they will waste their time. If someone eventually falls out of being a top player, but still perceives it as an enjoyable experience, then it generally can't be classified as a waste of time. Imagine if a white collar person who reprimanded their son or daughter for wanting to be a competitor in Esports, saying they'll never amount to anything doing that, encountered a successful entrepreneur the next day who told them, "Office jobs are for soul-less people who chase money, and they won't ever make a mark on the world." That might wake them up from their corporate slavery, but some people might inherently enjoy their work. It's a really malicious punch to the gut. It doesn't matter if you think, or even know, someone is making a wrong decision for their life. At the end of the day, you have no control over the descions , even in parenting. Parents can do their best to influence children, and even have dominion over what they do and should be doing at a young age. After they grow older, there comes a point of life where they can't be ordered around anymore. Treat others how you would want to be treated.

I'm still holding out for a big seasonal mystery through-line

I wrote this as a comment but it got huge and so I thought it'd be great for a discussion post.
So there are questions I have about the status quo as of S1E2 that could be solved with a big corruption-within-the-force story.
Emily dies (read: may have died) and they quickly find the killer, and yeah maybe he's the guy who pulled the trigger but how did that guy find her when Walker had told her the safe routes? This is still a mystery! Episode 2 did not wrap it up, unlike the other 2 mysteries of the Poker Chip and the Closed Eyes.
Next, it's highly suspect that Walker's thrown straight into an undercover operation that takes him 10 months to see through. Like, who got him that gig? Why do they hate him and his family? "I'm gonna take this career cop away from a stable life while he grieves his recently-deceased wife, rip him from his kids (they prolly don't need him anyway right?), and make him risk his life undercover."
And ok so maybe I've only been informed by The Departed and Johnny Brasco when it comes to undercover officers, but it stands to reason too that undercover cops are supposed to be young or at least with very few ppl waiting up for them, and expected to burn out/retire once their cover's up. So, I have a whole buncha questions to ask about who would've greenlit Walker for that. Extra questions about how he's back on the force afterwards? Are we not afraid of retribution from those he put behind bars (or their family)? He's kind of identifiable; he has a striking appearance and he's like 6'4. He could very easily get made if he's as visible as a Texas Ranger.
So idk, I can only conclude it's kinda bad writing that a corrupt-higher-up stupidly thought an undercover gig would take Walker's mind off the things that don't make sense about Emily's death, would cool him down, chill him out.
...and it would be super funny if the villain gets taken down by a flawed understanding of grief psychology. Bc they sent Walker undercover for him to get him away from the case, to chill out but really they just got him to press 'pause' on his entire friggin life. As time passed, they felt its passage, and think water is streaming under that bridge. They lull themselves into complacency Walker's gonna come back having come to terms with his wife's death.
Meanwhile Walker's like nowhere even close to that. He's busy pretending to be someone else, actively not processing anything bc he's compartmentalizing like a mofo. And when Walker returns to Austin, psychologically presses 'play' on Emily, it's literally as though she'd just died a month or two prior for him.
nobodylikedthat.jpg, but especially the ppl who'd sent him undercover to stop him from doing that very dang thing 😂
To bring it back to the brilliant irony of a villain getting taken down by a flawed understanding of grief psychology. Immediately after Emily's death, all parties involved may have been stressed, cagey, wouldn't talk or maybe even had a script memorized down pat. But 10 months later? Another questioning about that murder case which was solved? Probably not.
So it's like if the villain had just let Walker freak out and investigate Emily's death at the same time everybody else was, his issues might've been put to bed. But now it's 10 months later, and Walker's got the same passion as he would've had 1-2ish months after her death, and he's in a fantastic position, time-wise, to shake some trees and discover some mysterious discrepancies about Emily's death bc nobody's expecting him to ask anymore ("It's been so looong Walker, what are you doingggg")
I would love this.
Kind of a sidebar: as for suspects, there was that older gentleman in the pilot who attended Walker's homecoming while Walker was drinking at the DWG (Dead Wife Gazebo). I think he must've been Walker's police contact while undercover? There was something about how he really praised Walker for everything he did undercover. So that fuckin guy. I don't trust that guy. 😂
Sub-sidebar note: I wrote this like I think Emily's dead but I'm really hoping Emily's not dead. Most of this is about Cordell's grief though, and for sure in this series so far he definitely thinks she's dead as a doornail .

I abandoned VR as an early user. I came back to try the Quest 2 and HOLY S#*!, I'm completely blown away by the experience. If you are on the fence, BUY ONE. VR is ready in 2020.

This is a long post but I wanted to give my full impressions on the experience with details in case anyone is interested in the thoughts of a brand new user to the Quest.
TL;DR: Tried Gear VR in 2015 but was put off by screen door effect, motion sickness, lack of degrees of freedom, lack of games and experiences. Considered Tethered VR but was put off by the barriers to entry and the expensive hardware needed. Now in 2020 saw the Quest 2 with the $299 price tag and no extra hardware or tether needed. Picked one up all those early problems have been SOLVED and VR is now ready for mass adoption . It's a true enjoyable experience and IMO is a great tool to spend time with friends in family in a virtual way in todays environment.

----
So I've always been fascinated by the idea of Virtual Reality even as a kid. The idea of escaping into another world and living out all the things my imagination could generate really appealed to me. Back in the 90's I even owned a Nintendo Virtual Boy. I happily played 3D tennis and Tetris thinking the future was now. Fast forward to the early 2010's when the Oculus Rift developer kit was first available. I thought it was really cool but with all the various barriers to entry and being a non consumer product I avoided it.
Then 2015 hit and the Gear VR was announced. For $99 I could be "in VR" with my already existing smartphone, totally wireless with no high end PC needed. I had to try it. My initial experience was one of amazement. Watching netflix on that virtual couch, talking to others online, or watching 360 video experiences was just awesome. I shared it with every friend and family member I could and we played dreadhalls, the manor, etc for some jump scare fun. However, I am very prone to motion sickness so something always felt "off" to me and I could never use it for more than 20 minutes without feeling ill. On top of that the screen door effect was very distracting and having to use a bluetooth gaming controller really effected the experience for me without any sort of hand presence.
I put down the gear VR in 2016 and never went back. It just wasn't polished enough for me or "ready" for what I wanted VR to be. Over the years I followed VR and saw the developments in tracking, controllers, and screen resolution. Now we are talking! However, you still needed a high end gaming PC and the experience was tethered. So I stayed away. Then the quest hit. THIS is what I was waiting for, but I figured the games would be limited and you can't play PC VR titles, so I stayed away still.
When the Quest 2 was announced and I saw the specs and found out you could play PC titles from Steam wired OR wirelessly, on top of being only $299, I knew this was the time to take action. I picked one up from Best Buy a few weeks ago. My first reaction when loading it up coming from an S6 with Gear VR was that the screen door effect was GONE. Wow! This is how imagined the future of VR would look. Everything was super clear and sharp. Next, the in VR software and overall experience was super polished and felt like what a next gen product should be. Even just setting up the guardian system really impressed me by how cool it was and how well it worked, as that was an issue for me with the Gear VR that was solved by the quest.
Once that was done and after briefly changing some settings, I loaded up the first steps tutorial. When I first saw my hands in VR and started playing with the objects on the table, I have to admit as a 35 year old man I was absolutely giddy with excitement. Something I haven't felt in YEARS since I was a kid. Next I loaded up the dancing robot and it was just the coolest little experience dancing with him and playing around. I could swear that robot was right in front of me it looked so damn good. On top of all that the "6 degrees of freedom" with the ability to walk around and actually lean in to look at things was a total game changer. I felt like I was really IN VR and fully immersed with a real presence in the virtual world.
Before I knew it, an hour had gone by and I had ZERO motion sickness. Something I could never do with the Gear VR. I think it has to do with the refresh rate and the fact that all my head motion is fully tracked. It really does fool my brain into thinking what I am seeing is real and my brain is happy and no sickness.
It's been a few weeks since and I have been using it daily for hours. I've since tried many difference experiences and games. The highlight for me has to be Beat Saber. Wow. I've never played a more fun or immersive game in my life. With a good pair of Bose noise canceling headphones it's just the most amazing experience slashing those boxes to your favorite music. Also love Super Hot and Pistol Whip, those games me me feel like I'm in the future I imagined as a kid in the 90's more than anything I've done. I really makes you feel like you are Neo in the matrix or an unstoppable action hero like John Wick. They are a great workout on top of everything. If you are new to oculus or getting a Quest, these 3 are must haves. You will thank me later.
Then we have the social experiences. I lost track of the hours I've spent playing poker or blackjack with strangers, throwing my chips at people, smoking virtual cigars and chatting about life. It's a true escape from the stress of daily life. I also enjoy watching movies with others on "BigScreen" and tossing tomato's at the screen or just hanging out.
Then I learned about SideQuest and the first thing I did was turn on 90hz mode, WOW. This made a massive difference in how smooth and fluid most games were. When it ran well, it added to the realism by a huge factor. An example being the in game menus in BigScreen when they move its so fluid its like they are floating and moving in real life. For me personally, refresh rate is the biggest factor in my immersion into VR and to avoid motion sickness. 90hz on beat saber is way better and on top of that I installed a bunch of custom songs and that turned the experience from an awesome one to an unforgettable one. Then I got virtual desktop and WOW. Being able to WIRELESSLY play Steam VR games (like The Lab, highly recommended) with no noticeable latency is insane to me and being able to control my computer from VR. Worth every penny of the $20.
In summary, I'm super excited where VR is going from here, but right now in 2020 we have a device that solves all the early VR problems and puts it all in a polished consumer product that is FULLY WIRELESS and requires no outside hardware all for a low price $299. I cannot recommend or praise the Quest 2 enough. If you are thinking about buying one or as a gift for a friend or loved one, do it and you will thank me later. This product has added true value to my life and now I will be an ambassador to all my friends and family and show them what the Quest 2 can do, especially in todays environment where staying connected to the people in our lives without physically being there is a factor, this is the product we need right now.

Forbidden Cookies

“Those cookies are not for you."
"What?" The admonishing speaker was from the newest species to join the Allegium, a small mammalian race that called themselves humans. They were in the Grand Hall far too early for a species so new, but if the rest of this species had the ability to create things like the "cookies" Tl'ak had been stuffing himself with, the introduction was probably well granted. He grunted and continued to reach for the platter piled high with richly colored brown cookies studded with chunks of white.
"I said, those cookies are not for you. I brought thirteen platters of cookies as my Offering of Goodwill. Twelve of them are for anybody to partake in. That platter, however, is reserved for the Grand Advisor of the Allegium. If you like, you may take from the blue or flower-printed platters - those are my famous sugar cookies, and they are safe for everybody to eat. I also recommend the cinnamon hot-bites from the grey one or the fruit-and-nut oatmeal cookies off of the bird-printed one. You may not take anything off of the red platter." Tl'ak froze, absolutely floored at the audacity of the one who sat across the table from him. How dare she try to deny him? He was the High Warlord of the Tl'vank, the most cunning spy in the Allegium, and the most capable warrior in the universe. And beyond that, he was the most noble and competent ruler that had ever existed of all time. Who was this /insect/ to tell him what he could and could not have?
He snarled and grabbed a fistful of treats off of the red platter in spite of the warning. "You have no right to tell me what to do, you underbaked ape! I do what I want when I want! The only reason this "Allegium" exists is because I allow it to be so!"
With that, he stuffed one of the saucer-sized cookies into his scaly maw and started chewing noisily, daring her to say something.
"If you're looking for me to try and stop you, you're looking in the wrong place. I gave you your warning, and you'll be the one that has to deal with the fallout." The human settled back into her seat. "I'm sure the Grand Advisor will take your poor attitude into account when you submit your proposal today. /IF/ you submit your proposal today."
Tl'ak laughed, spraying saliva covered crumbs across the table, much to the disgust of the other attendees of the conference. "If? If? You must be delusional! I have always had my proposals accepted! This is because your so-called Grand Advisor knows that when I don't get my way, you lesser species start dying en-masse! I will be the FIRST to present, and it will be you who must fear that there will not be enough time to beg for scraps!"
He shoved the rest of the cookies into his mouth, relishing the discomfort of the rest of the individuals sitting around him. A wicked idea crossed his mind, and he pulled the forbidden platter from the middle of the table and placed it in front of him. It wasn't enough to merely tell the human that he was her superior. He would show her by defying her command and consuming every last treat right in front of her face. She was helpless to stop him. It also didn't hurt that they happened to be absolutely delicious. Tl'ak was going to have to modify his demands to include these delicacies by the metric ton. He had a feeling his mates would love them.
He made a show of consuming them, making loud enjoyment noises that bordered on lewd. This went on for several minutes, and Tl'ak made sure to maintain eye contact the entire time. The human heaved a resigned sigh but did not look away or move from her seat. "I can tell you right now if you continue to eat those things you will absolutely not be the first person to present to the Grand Advisor."
"Oh? And who is going to stop me? You? You can't even stop me from eating them in the first place! How do you intend to stop me from making my demands?" With that, Tl'ak tipped the platter over his mouth and slid the contents into his mouth. "Now you have no offering for the Grand Advisor, and he will ignore your pleas!"
The human wrinkled her nose. "You seem to be under the impression that I will be the one to stop you. The truth of the matter is that it is your hubris that is going to prevent you from achieving your goals, no matter what those goals might be."
Tl'ak stood up from his seat, banging his fists on the table. He lumbered around the table, tossing every representative out of their chair as he made his way to the little wretch who dared to insult him. While his hulking reptilian frame normally towered over everybody in the room, compared to the human seated before him, he seemed positively gargantuan. He bent over, placing one clawed hand on each of the armrests, and trapping the human in her seat, giving her a toothy grin.
"Really? My hubris? I think you may want to think long and hard about which one of us is suffering from that. It seems to me that between the two of us, I'm the only one here capable of making good on every single one of my promises. And I promise you that I'm going to make sure your pathetic species suffers for your smart mouth."
The human didn't seem to be the least bit intimidated by Tl'ak, her expression showing nothing less than an impressive poker face. "And it seems to me that between the two of us, I'm the only one who knew what kind of cookie you just gorged yourself on."
"Eh? What kind of cookie? What does that have to do with anything? There's nothing your planet produces that I can't eat. There is nothing alive that exists in this entire galaxy that I can't consume!" Tl'ak boasted proudly. "So go ahead, tell the rest of these insects what kind of poison you tried to foist on the Grand Advisor. I'll be sure to tell him when he gets here!"
"There was no poison. That was a plate of chocolate cookies. I call them my quadruple chocolate explosion cookies."
"Chocolate? Psh! I've heard of that. It's perfectly safe for everybody in this room to eat! Even those pathetic little rats, the Clincinn, can eat it without any ill effects. It's only your pitiful pets that have issues with the stuff."
"Mmm... that's true. But do you know why I call them chocolate explosion?"
"Because you lack imagination, and want to make your offering sound more impressive than it actually is?"
"No. I call them my quadruple-chocolate explosion cookies because they have four chocolate ingredients in them. Chocolate powder. White chocolate chips. Dark chocolate chips." She counted each one of the ingredients with her fingers, extending an extra finger with each one for punctuation until a gurgling in Tl'ak's gut interrupted her. The human smiled wickedly. "And of course... chocolate laxative. You should be coming to the "explosion" portion quite soon, from the sounds of it."
Another audibly loud gurgling rumbled through, cutting through the silence in the room with ease. The reptilian doubled over, clutching his abdomen. His limbs felt weaker than the time his brother had given him a triple dose of the poisonous y'reb from his home system. He survived the attempted coup. His brother did not.
"Wh-what have you put in these?"
"I just told you. They've got a healthy dose of chocolate laxative mixed into the batter. The chocolate masks the taste of the laxative. I made this batch by request of the Grand Advisor, as apparently his house has been hit with a nasty case of Grilliu recently. If you or I were infected with this nasty germ, it would cause nothing more than slight gas, and maybe a little loose stool. The poor Grand Advisor, however, has the opposite problem and is unable to eliminate without a little extra help. He asked me if I could work my magic to make the stuff more palatable. From the destruction you wrought upon that batch of cookies, I'd say I succeeded."
Tl'ak groaned miserably, feeling the very familiar sensation of gastric upset coming up quickly within him. He jammed his legs uncomfortably close together as he looked desperately around the room. There, across the Grand Hall, was the ostentatiously named Elimination Chamber. Praying that his cloaca would hold out long enough for him to relieve himself, he made a mad dash for the bathroom.
"You wretch! You scoundrel! You unclean son of a Tilbek's daughter!" Several attendees gasped at the rude expression. "When I get done in there, I swear upon my mother's fangs that I will deal with YOU!"
And still, the human looked nonplussed. "Good luck with that"
A murmur rippled through the Grand Hall, and the whispers that reached Tl'ak's ears spoke of uprisings, weakness, and defiance. He would be sure to make a spectacle of destroying the nasty little insect that inspired them. And after that, he'd make an even grander show of subjugating the species that created her.
Finally reaching the door, he made a motion to push it open, only to have his momentum carry him snout first into an immovable object. Despite the sizable THUMP, the door did not budge. Frantically he alternated pushing and pulling the door, the inevitable evacuation of his insides bearing down on him. It refused to move.
With a mighty roar, Tl'ak embedded his claws into the face of the door, and gave a mighty heave. He intended to rip it completely off its hinges. The door creaked in defiance before completely shattering into thousands of filigreed pieces, many of them still embedded into the slab of solid grey blocking the doorway and preventing access to the bathroom.
Tl'ak felt as though somebody had just dumped a bucket of ice water over him. "Wh-what in the name of Sithrak is this?"
"Cement."
He slowly turned his head to face the human still seated in her chair at the table. "What."
"Cement.", she repeated. "It wasn't easy to get ahold of enough cement to plug up the entire bathroom, and it certainly won't be cheap to pay for the repairs. But it was absolutely worth it to banish you from the conference room."
What should have been a fierce snarl turned instead into an agonized whimper as a fresh reminder of his hubris roiled his gut.
"Unless of course, you intend to relieve yourself behind the potted plant before the Grand Advisor arrives?" The suggestion was met with a smattering of uncomfortable giggles from the peanut gallery. "If I'm not mistaken, there is another restroom two floors down. If you hurry, you might make it there before your insides make it to the floor beneath your feet."
"You... you'll pay for this..." Tl'ak gasped, stumbling towards the exit. "I swear it. You'll pay for your trickery, and your people will pay for daring to send something as treacherous as you into the Grand Hall as their representative!"
Nobody spoke as the sound of the Tl'vank warlord's curses grew ever fainter as he departed down the long hallway leading out of the Grand Hall.
"Um... If I might beg your pardon Grand Representative Erin of the Humans..." A tiny Clincinn hopped up on the table, his fat furry shoulders shaking with anxiety. Gossamer puffs of soft, silvery fur wafted around him as he spoke. "But I seem to recall that the Elimination Chamber located two floors below this floor was ALSO filled with cement. Have you somehow switched the chambers with your magic?"
Erin stared at him for a moment, before his question seemed to register in her mind. A wide smile spread across her face, and she laughed. "Oh...! Oh! Oh, no booboo. I don't have any actual magic. It's just a bit of human terminology that means I'm very good at what I do. But I did fill both bathrooms with cement. Even if he manages to reach the one downstairs, he isn't going to be able to use it. I fully intend to make sure Tl'ak doesn't come back to the Grand Hall, and if that means paying for a few new bathrooms, then so be it."
"A few?", the Clincinn on the table asked, his tail swishing in curiosity. "How many did you fill?"
The smile on Erin's face hardened as the Grand Advisor to the Allegium finally entered the room, signalling the start of the Grand Conference.
"All of them."

I died over a year ago. I just woke up (part 3)

Hello everyone. I know it’s been a year since I shared my story. Everything that has happened, was so hard to keep up with, I wanted to wait until it was all over to share the rest. Here is the beginning of your closure.
Casey Jones.
There she stood, feigning fearlessness, but her trembling arms gave her true demeanour away.
She scowled, her deep smile lines protruding around the sides of her mouth.
She did not look happy to see me. If anything, more confused and angry.
”Who are you?” She barked defensively, hands practically glued to the bat.
My words failed me. I didn’t know whether to be overjoyed that Dustin’s dead girls were rising from the dead, or fucking terrified.
”What’s a matter wit’ ya? Huh? Cat got your tongue?” She shouted in what appeared to be a thick Brooklyn accent.
”C-Casey Jones?” I asked, standing like a deer in headlights.
I meekly stuck out my hand. ”I’m Fiona. Fiona Holiday.”
She stood, staring deeply at my now quivering hand. ”Hold up, that dead girls grave next to me? That’s you?”
I swallowed a lump in my throat.
”Christ,” she laughed manically. ”What’s going on here? Because I would really like to know,” she said, raising the bat behind her.
”Whoa whoa whoa. Hey. I was the first one to wake up,” I said, easing the bat from her hands.
”Alright blondie, why don’t you tell me how this all fuckin’ happened.”
”Okay, Casey. A couple days ago, I woke up in a coffin. I felt like I couldn’t breathe.. and I managed to claw my way to the surface. I don’t know how long that took. I noticed the bracelet on my arm...”
Casey glanced down toward her bracelet, and then at mine. Gold and engraved.
”Okay, so what?” She waved her hand, motioning me to get to the point.
”I looked around and noticed 5 more makeshift tombstones. Three to my left, and two to my right. You were the one directly to my left. I didn’t believe anything that was happening. I started to dig up your grave and...”
”I wasn’t in a nice little coffin like you,” she interrupted, finishing my sentence.
”...yeah. I grabbed your hand and saw the same bracelet on your wrist that was on mine. I realised that all 6 of us were victims of some man who-“
”Pfft. Man? You call the psycho who probably played poker with the night stalker and decided to kidnap underage girls a man? C’mon, blondie. Don’t humanise the fucker,” she quipped.
”Honestly, if he had the balls to show his face around here right now, I would make sure he can never jack off again.”
She blew a strand of fiery red hair away from her face.
”You didn’t see him?” I asked, remembering the shocking discovery I made in the first place upon arrival.
”Who? this ‘Dustin’ or whatever the fuck he calls himself? Goldilocks, if I did, do you really think he’d still be alive right now?”
”I smashed his head repeatedly with the very bat you’re holding in your hand right now. Then I left to seek shelter so I could figure out what to do...”
”Looks like I underestimated the strength in the size of you .”
This time, I shot her a look.
”What? You look like a daisy. Nothing wrong with it.”
”Anyway,” Casey continued. ”You didn’t go to the fuzz did ya?”
”No, of course not I-“
”Do you have any idea what they would do to us? Send us off to some science lab and attach us to machines, and experiment until they kill us. Heh. Sounds about right.”
”Anyway, if you smashed Dustin’s brains in, where the hell did he go? Don’t tell me he rose from the dead in seconds whereas for us it took fuckin’ years,” she scoffed.
”I’m not sure.. honestly, I thought I hit him good. Hard enough to be unconscious for a long time. He seemed to have recovered quick enough to up and run.”
” ‘Unconscious’ isn’t good enough. Comatose, or dead. Otherwise you didn’t do the job,” Casey sneered.
”Alright Merida, if you know what’s best, why don’t you go ahead and decide what to do next?”
”I’m no Scott Princess. I just wanna find the dude, properly bash his brains in, and go back home to my old man.”
”What about the other girls? What happens to them?”
”They’ll figure it out. If we take the problem out, they’ll be fine if or when they wake up.”
”Don’t be cold. You woke up a day after I did, and you died a year before me. What’s not to say.. err.. Vanessa Walters won’t wake up tomorrow? And Delilah Woods the next?”
”Vanessa Walters. Huh. That girl was a train wreck.”
She really had my attention now.
”How did you know her?”
”He took me 10 days before he killed her. She loved him to death. Even that, was an understatement. Girl had a big bad case of Stockholm syndrome. Gave me the heebie jeebies, but I felt bad for her. What can you do? If a sicko can easily take a girl in broad daylight. he can just as easily get into her head. But not mine!” She retorted.
”Right. I say we stay here tonight and see if there’s a chance that Vanessa wakes up tomorrow.”
”Are you nuts? I’m not staying another night in H.H Holmes’ Murder Castle. You picked the wrong girl to be stupid with.”
”You’re also the only girl with me right now. If we stick together, we can wake the others up and have a chance at finding Dustin.”
”How do you think this’ll help us find him?”
”Every girl must have different memories and experiences with him. Maybe he took them places, or told them things he never told the others. Was Vanessa his favourite?”
”Oh yeah. For sure. I went garbage diving while she got sugar cubes and TV dinners.”
”Haha. I’m serious, Casey.”
”Yeah. She seemed like the only girl who actually developed an obsessive attachment to him, just like he wanted. Don’t know why he killed her. He couldn’t get that from us.”
”Why did he kill her?” I asked with sadness in my voice.
”Look blondie, I just said I don’t know, alright? He was giving me more attention than usual one night, which I resisted, and she got a bit jealous. The next morning, she was gone and he told me he released her. I knew it was a fuckin’ lie, though.”
I started to laugh.
”What’s so funny?”
”You’re not at all what I pictured. Maybe you really were a different person before everything happened.”
”The hell is that supposed to mean?” she snapped.
”Casey, when I left yesterday up the mountain to find shelter, I hitchhiked and a man picked me up and drove me 5 miles to a woman’s shelter,”
”Your point?”
“I think he was your dad. Frank Jones?”
Her horror-ridden face softened for the first time.
”How- where is he? Does he still live with mom back at home?”
”He didn’t tell me much, just that his 15 year old daughter went missing in 2016. And, since you were killed in 2017, that would make you around 18 years old now..”
For once, there was no remark from Casey Jones.
She was stripped back down to a scared little girl, crying for her Father in the back of a van with a man she once trusted.
Flashback
Red and green girl, swinging on the swing set. She’s trying to see how high she can swing. The tips of her cherry worn-out sneakers touch the sky, and pierce through the clouds.
This is the most free she had ever felt, and the last, for the duration of her first life. Her perfect, undisturbed, cookie cutter life. A perfect cookie cutter family in a new cookie cutter neighbourhood. The friendly Californians brought pies to the Jones’ residence, who just moved from Brooklyn. A squeaky clean “Welcome” mat on the spotless swept ground.
Tuesdays are the worst. After enduring expensive piano lessons she was forced into for an hour, the swings at the local park were the only taste of relief she could get on a Tuesday.
A misplaced van with rotting colours enters the perfect scene. Paint chips that look like claw marks flash all over the sides. Tinted windows. Curiosity and Casey were never a good team. Red and green girl runs over to get a closer look. A hand snakes out the abruptly opened door, and takes the fifteen and pristine girl, scribbles all over her, until she’s fifteen, obscene, and dark all over.
She saw 5,475 sunrises and sunsets. She was supposed to live to her 30,000 goal.
The Cookie Monster took the crumbling cookie girl from the cookie cutter neighbourhood, and devoured Casey Jones until she was spat out bitter.
”Casey? Casey?” I asked. Fanning my hand in front of her face. She was in a daze. After getting a good look at her eyes, they weren’t intimidating at all. I know this now.
”Yeah. That’s my dad. After all these years I can still hear the way he snorts when he laughs. And the way he mispronounces ‘February’ “.
So she did have her memories back.
”What about you? You got folks?”
It stung.
”My mother ate a bottle of pills a few months after my disappearance, and my dad found her. I don’t know his whereabouts.”
”Ouch. I’m sorry. To be honest, my mother was pretty selfish. I wouldn’t be surprised if she forgot I existed.”
”Don’t be silly. A mother’s love is the most powerful thing.”
”Sometimes. Unless you’re their mirror, but a reflection of everything they wanted to be, and they secretly resent you for it.”
There was a long pause, until she broke the silence, once again.
”Fuck it. We’ll sleep here tonight. Inside by the door. But not at the same time, one of us has to keep watch in case Hannibal Lecter comes back. I’ll take first watch. I’m not going to sleep so soon again, for christ’s sake.”
I did a double take at the silver cross necklace she had hiding underneath her stained shirt.
”Is it the walking dead escapee outfit or the necklace?” she snorted, catching my gaze.
”Whatever. I got murdered, I came back to life. I ain’t never seen that in the whole goddamn bible. You best believe I’m a changed woman now.”
We shared a genuine laugh together. My first real laugh in years.
”Better get a head start on the rest blondie. I don’t think there’ll be coffee around here.”
”Right, right. Goodnight.”
”Awe man, don’t you go saying that, you’re closing your eyes for a hot minute. Stay alive for me until I wake you up.”
I sighed in response and rested my head on the wooden floor. I wondered how many bodies had been dragged across this floor. Had been killed on this floor. Had clawed at this floor. Had hit this floor. I sat upright, and decidedly positioned myself against the door frame instead. I’m safe.
I was shaken violently awake, an hour later.
There was a noise coming from outside in the backyard. Casey was the first to jump up, swinging the baseball bat blindly against the air in the darkened house. She crept toward the back garden, and I stayed low behind her.
She turned to me, gazed into my dilated pupils and put her finger against her lips. Our rapid breathing could make us heard.
She slid open the back door, and we stepped out onto the cool concrete.
We abruptly looked both ways, multiple times, before finding middle ground on the soft grass. In front of the other 4 graves.
”Come out, fucker,” she mumbled under her breath. My body betrayed me, and I coughed. Loud.
”Shit shit shit...” she said, the noise we were trying to locate ceased.
I mouthed ”I’m sorry” and we crouched down low. I couldn’t help but gaze down at my left. Vanessa Walters laying just beneath me. I was trembling so much, i could’ve swore it was the dirt beneath us.
”I think it was an animal,” Casey groaned.
”Hey! Earth to Fiona!” She said, snapping her fingers in front of my face.
”We got bigger problems missy.”
I pressed my hand against Vanessa’s tombstone one last time, and stood back up, stretching my arms above my head.
We walked back into the house and sat ourselves back down in the same spot as before. It was 1am. There was nothing left to do but wait.
I had nothing on my mind but Vanessa Walters, and the what if’s and the should haves. Would she stay loyal to Dustin? Or would she want revenge?
As for Casey, the girl was half hell. But, that night, the look in her eyes said she wished she never woke up

Overheard fiancées friends talking about her rapist having a ‘massive’ dick

I can’t help thinking this is some dumb primitive caveman shit but it’s fucking me up.
A little over a year ago my fiancée Abbie was raped on a night out. It was a nightmare for us through dealing with the police and the hospital and she was really affected by it. We’ve worked hard last year and over the last few months things have essentially been back to normal in terms of her personality, our intimacy and her confidence. I actually posted here about it and received some really helpful advice.
Last weekend she had some girlfriends over for a night in. She was still at the shops when they started arriving and I was heading out to my friends. Most of these girls we have known for 5-10+ years, so I let them in and headed out when the ones I was comfortable leaving in my house were here. Some of them had clearly already started on the wines.
I got 5 mins away before realising I forgot my poker set so turned around to grab it, Abbie’s car wasn’t in the driveway and I didn’t want to get stuck talking to the girls so I snuck in the back and went upstairs to grab my chip case. On my way down I heard the single ones talking about guys they’d slept with recently. I had a little chuckle at the poor nameless blokes as...well women can be harsh but then I heard ‘Brandon has such a small dick, sometimes I wish the guy that raped Abbie would do me next. She said his dick was massive’. There was some laughter and a couple of ‘don’t even joke about thats’. I didn’t know how to process it and just left.
I don’t even know what I’m upset about he’s a fucking rapist and I’ve never been insecure before but why do they know that info wtf. It’s been a week and she knows something is wrong but I don’t know what to do. Like I said I feel like it’s so dumb but it’s in my brain now. So. Yeah.

3DS and Wii U games not yet available on Nintendo Switch - Complete Database (in progress)

This is an attempt at creating a complete database of all 3DS and Wii U games that didn't make the cut to the Switch (from Nintendo masterpieces to shovelware).
As it stands, the "raw data", consisting of just the list of the last-gen non-Switch games, is already gathered. This is, however, still a working progress as much more can be done, for example classify the games in categories such as "Third Party", "Indie Gem", "Shovelware", among others. Other information such as each game's developer would also enrich this list.
The idea behind this list is manly software preservation, because someday the other consoles' eShops will close and similarly to the Wii Shop channel some games may be lost, and with this database we know which of the bunch are not "safe" on Switch. But this is also a matter of consistency across Nintendo platforms, hence the inclusion of games with physical version. The Switch is such an amazing and successful console that, in my opinion (and of many here in this sub), it would be amazing if virtually every game was ported to it (or at least every Nintendo related one) .
There is some subjectivity in this selection of games, because we didn't include games that already have a improved version on the Switch (games that include the vast majority of the base game content), so for example Smash 4 is not here, because almost everything it had to offer is replicated in Ultimate. In the other hand, Mario Kart 7 is in fact listed, because very few of it's tracks are represented in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
The criteria used are as follows:
- Every original 3DS game not on Switch is featured
- If a game is in both 3DS and Wii U but not in Switch, it appears listed as 3DS game (because the 3DS outlived the Wii U and probably so will it's eShop)
- Every original Wii U game not on 3DS and not on Switch is featured
- This searched is based on the PAL games of the consoles and in Nintendo's official website
- If a game has a port/enhanced version/remake announced for the Nintendo Switch (e.g. Super Mario 3D World) it is off the list.
--

The idea of this post is creating this database together as a fun little fan project, seeing as it is incomplete and can have a much better organization and presentation that it has as of this moment.

Possible improvements/updates:
- Adding the other regions (NA and Japan)
- Tag the games as "Indie Gem", "Shovelware"...
- Associate to each game a possible reason for why the port hasn't happened yet (e.g. extinct developer, technical difficulties, irrelevance, etc...)
- Group the numbers in graphs or other more pleasant presentation
- Create dream ports to Switch (a favorite of this sub :) ) based on the games yet to port (not only of a simple game like Xenoblade Chronicles X for Switch but for example: Etrian Odyssey Collection, based on the fact that there are a bunch of games from that series "stuck" on the 3DS)

Well here it goes:

Legend:
N = Made/Published by Nintendo
TP = Third Party with physical version
IG = Indie Gem (subjective)
