Kazinag National Park or Qazinag National Park is a commissioned future national park in the Baramulla district in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. It is Kaziranga National Park – a world heritage site, the park hosts two-thirds of the world’s Great One-horned rhinoceros. Kaziranga also boasts the highest density of tigers among the protected areas in the world and was declared a Tiger Reserve in 2006. Kazinag National Park Also known as ‘Qazinad’, this national park was built out of a proposal for a trans-Karakoram peace park with Pakistan following the ceasefire post the Kargil War. It was established with a primary motive to preserve the Markhor wild goat which happens to be the national animal of Pakistan. Dachigam National Park However, the most remarkable animal in the sanctuary is the national animal of Pakistan, the Himalayan Markhor. Numerous types of avi-fauna reside in the park including the Pied Kingfisher and the Long Tailed Minivet, making it one of the most diverse and versatile parks in India. The uniqueness of Kazinag National Park is that it is home to about 17 different species of butterflies that are unique and endangered. Another fast vanishing animal, the Markhor, which is the national animal of Pakistan is also found here.
